The Head of North Ossetia, Sergey Menyailo, held a working meeting to discuss the protection and preservation of cultural heritage sites, primarily the Dargav necropolis, referred to as the “City of the Dead”. Earlier, the Ministry of Culture represented by the National Museum together with the Ministry of Construction and Architecture was instructed to work out the issue of selecting a place to build a viewing platform, which should provide an opportunity for safe remote viewing of the necropolis without direct access to its territory. In addition, the task was set to work out the arrangement of a special fence of the museum complex and to provide access to the necropolis only to the museum staff and specialists for its maintenance. Sergei Menyailo instructed to take temporary measures as soon as possible - to mark the perimeter of the necropolis with a tape fence and install warning signs with a ban on passage beyond the fence. This will help minimize the negative impact of the tourist flow until the construction of the site is completed.
The Dargavskiy crypt burial ground is a complex of above-ground and semi-underground crypt structures dating from the XIV-XVIII centuries near the village of Dargavs in North Ossetia.
