The date of foundation of Pyatigorsk State University is considered to be June 27, 1939, when the Pedagogical School officially became a higher educational institution. Since then, the university has undergone various changes and transformations - an increase in the number of years of study, several renamings - and officially became known as Pyatigorsk State University in 2016. Since 2005, the head of the university is Professor Gorbunov Alexander Pavlovich. By 2009, 10 faculties were formed at the university. Further, on their basis, institutes and higher schools were created, having one of the faculties in their composition. In addition, PSU is actively developing the system of pre-university, postgraduate and additional education. It has a branch in Novorossiysk. Currently, the university has 34 departments. Now Pyatigorsk State University has more than 5,500 students and 3,000 students from different regions of Russia and foreign countries. All the peoples of the Caucasus are also represented in PSU.

PSU hosted the annual festival of educational opportunities of IIYMT “Do the right thing”.

The festival gathered about 200 teachers and schoolchildren from secondary schools of the Stavropol Territory and the Republic of Karachay-Cherkessia.

Welcoming speeches were made by the Director of IIYAMT, Professor I.M. Hakobyants and Vice-Rector for Academic Policy, Quality Control of Education and Informatization Y.Y. Grankin.

Irina Mikhailovna highlighted the main directions of training at the Institute, and also told the applicants about the bases of practices and internships.

The students of the IIYAMT Student Council opened the veil of student life at PSU and told future applicants about the social and cultural life of the university.

Within the framework of the festival, a series of master classes for teachers and future applicants was held.

The students got acquainted in detail with the directions of training of IIYMT by attending trainings, creative and linguistic master classes prepared by the teachers of the Institute.

Professor I.M. Hakobyants and associate professor V.V. Elkin conducted a series of scientific and methodological seminars for teachers of secondary schools, which ended with the issuance of nominal certificates.

An open interactive practice-oriented master class “The Art of Oratory” was held for everyone.
