The government will expand its support for the development of tourism infrastructure in the North Caucasus.
This was announced by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a government meeting. The North Caucasus is one of the most popular destinations for tourism. On the instructions of the President, work is underway to attract businesses to implement projects to create all-season recreation centers and ski resorts there.
"This will help to develop the region more actively, make it more attractive to investors, create dozens of kilometers of new trails, and increase the capacity of hotels, cafes, and restaurants. We must make the most of the unique advantages of the entire North Caucasus—its climate and nature—to create comfortable conditions for a variety of leisure activities. This will attract travelers not only from our country, but also from abroad," said Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The government has approved the terms of a concession for the creation of tourist infrastructure in the North Caucasus, under which trails, cable cars, and other ski facilities will be built and used, and specialized equipment will be purchased.
One of the main tasks of the state is to attract private investment to the region and make it attractive for investment. Already today, the volume of declared investments in the tourist SEZs of the North Caucasus has exceeded 200 billion rubles. Kavkaz.RF's own portfolio consists of 220 investment projects with a total value of 48 billion rubles. But we are constantly looking for new mechanisms to attract funds. One of them is concessions. This will accelerate the development of the macroregion and allow each of the SEZs to strive for a million tourist arrivals and year-round occupancy," says Andrey Yumshanov, CEO of Kavkaz.RF.
The budget allocates 4 billion rubles for these purposes in 2025 and over 8 billion rubles in 2026-2027 .
Kavkaz.RF is a single development institution for the North Caucasus. Under the management of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the company builds and develops resorts, manages tourist and recreational special economic zones, creates conditions for business development in the region, and fosters a favorable investment climate. In the Russian Federation Government, the North Caucasus Federal District is overseen by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
