Irafsky District

Welcome to the Irafsky District of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. Located in the southwestern part of the republic, most of the district is mountainous. It borders Georgia, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, and the Digorsky and Alagirsky districts. The administrative center is the village of Chikola. The population is over 15,000 people, mainly Ossetians and Russians. The Ossetians of the district speak the Digor dialect of the Ossetian language. The economy of the Irafsky District is based on agriculture—there are five collective farms and four state farms here. The district also has a consumer services complex, housing and utilities enterprises, and the Fasnalskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant. Tourism is well developed. The district is rich in historical, cultural, and natural monuments. The Alania National Park is located in the district, where there are many mountaineering, tourist, and ecological trails.

As part of the "Sport of Russia" state program, the Irafsky District of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania will host an annual tournament in memory of the Tamayev family, who perished in the Beslan tragedy, among young men born in 2012-2013 and 2014-2015 .

The competition is held to further develop and popularize freestyle wrestling; attract young people to physical education and sports; promote a healthy lifestyle and improve athletic skills; and identify the strongest wrestlers and improve the skills of young wrestlers.

The tournament will be held on September 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Chikola Sports and Recreation Center, located at 65A Dedegkaeva Street, Chikola Village.

Winners and runners-up will be awarded certificates, medals, and commemorative prizes.
