Irafsky District

Welcome to the Irafsky District of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. Located in the southwestern part of the republic, most of the district is mountainous. It borders Georgia, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, and the Digorsky and Alagirsky districts. The administrative center is the village of Chikola. The population is over 15,000 people, mainly Ossetians and Russians. The Ossetians of the district speak the Digor dialect of the Ossetian language. The economy of the Irafsky District is based on agriculture—there are five collective farms and four state farms here. The district also has a consumer services complex, housing and utilities enterprises, and the Fasnalskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant. Tourism is well developed. The district is rich in historical, cultural, and natural monuments. The Alania National Park is located in the district, where there are many mountaineering, tourist, and ecological trails.

As part of the state program "Education Development," major renovations have begun at a kindergarten in the village of Lesken.

Recently, Aslanbek Gogayev, Deputy Head of the Irafsky District Municipal Administration, and Zalim Kabaloyev, Head of the Education Department, inspected the progress of the work at the site.

The contractor, KAISER LLC, has begun fulfilling the contract. Dismantling work is currently underway at the site.

The major renovations will include: roof replacement; replacement of all utility systems; replacement of window and door units; and complete interior finishing.

Completion of all work is scheduled for November 30, 2026. The district administration is personally monitoring the renovation progress.
