The multi-year restoration of the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory is nearing completion. The Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory on Theater Square in St. Petersburg is nearing completion.
Permission to put the facility into operation is expected to be obtained in the second quarter of this year, after which the Conservatory will host its first concert after restoration.
St. Petersburg Conservatory is the first conservatory in Russia, founded by the Highest Decree of October 17, 1861 as a school on the basis of the Music Classes of the Russian Musical Society, on the initiative of pianist and conductor Anton Rubinstein. The Conservatory was officially opened on September 8, 1862.
