Unique artifacts of the XVI-XVIII centuries were discovered in Moscow during archaeological works.
A double-sided seal-matrix of the late XVI-early XVII centuries was found near the Church of Elijah the Prophet of Ordinary. The artifact is made of colored metal, one side depicts a lion, the other a warrior with a sword and dagger in his hands. These are popular in the Middle Ages symbols of power and valor. Usually the warrior was depicted in full height or only in profile, but on the found seal he is represented at the waist.
In the area of Obydenskiye pereuloks was found an overlay of colored metal of the XVII century with a well-preserved image of a lion. Similar overlays were previously used to decorate a belt or purse.
Another find is an 18th century Moscow plot izrazec of the XVIII century.
Over the past 14 years, the capital's archaeologists have discovered more than 120 thousand artifacts.
