Welcome to the Alagir District of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. The Alagir District is located on the northern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains in the southern part of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. Most of the district is located in the mountainous zone of the republic. It borders the Irafsky, Digorsky, Ardon district, and Prigorodny districts, as well as the Republic of South Ossetia and Georgia. The administrative center is the city of Alagir. The Alagir District is the largest municipal formation in the republic in terms of area. However, its population is only 38,600. Most of the population is concentrated in the administrative center, the city of Alagir. A quarter of the republic's forests are located in the Alagirsky District. The mountainous part of the district is rich in minerals – polymetallic ores, facing and building stones, cement raw materials, concrete and lightweight aggregates, limestone, expanded clay and feldspar raw materials, sand and gravel raw materials. The district also has the Tamis and Biragzan underground freshwater deposits. There are two monasteries in the district: a men's monastery in Verkhniy Fiagdon and a women's monastery in Alagir, as well as three historic settlements: the city of Alagir and the villages of Sadon and Mizur. The district has developed mineral extraction, construction materials production, electrical engineering, transport, logistics, recreational activities, agriculture, electricity generation, and religious tourism.

An extraordinary session of the Assembly of Representatives of the Alagir Municipal District of the seventh convocation was held. The deputies decided to terminate Islam Dzantiev's powers as head of the Alagir Municipal District ahead of schedule in accordance with his submitted statement.

At the suggestion of the faction of the All-Russian political party “United Russia,” the first deputy chairman of the Assembly of Representatives of the Alagirsky District, Vyacheslav Khangereevich Demurov, was nominated for the post of head of the district.

The deputies of the Assembly of Representatives unanimously elected Vyacheslav Demurov as head of the Alagirsky municipal district.
