In November, a unique open-air museum will open in mountainous Ingushetia, created by the team of the school of masons-restorers “Heritage”.
The museum will be located inside one of the restored residential towers on the territory of the Nizhny Puy architectural complex, the entrance to it will be free on Friday afternoons, as on other days restoration and archaeological works take place on the territory.
The purpose of the museum is much broader than simply storing artifacts – it will become a space where everyone can immerse themselves in the life of medieval highlanders. Currently, the collection has about 500 unique finds, including such historical values as a dagger of the time of Imam Shamil, a brass bulletin of the XIX century, a fragment of the trunk squeaked XVII century, a miniature anvil, household tools, ceramics, lamps and rare temporal suspensions.
On the territory of Nizhny Puy, six towers and three crypts are being studied, and the organizers plan that the museum will be constantly replenished with new artifacts. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the agriculture, crafts and art of our ancestors, as well as the environment in which they lived.
I would like to note that the Heritage team led by Ramzan Sultygov, a restorer with international experience, has done a tremendous job in the year since the school was founded. In addition to the restoration itself, scientific activities are actively conducted on the territory of the complex.
Specialists discovered not only artifacts, but also a ritual burial of a foal, which confirmed the existence of a funeral rite described by the first Ingush ethnographer Chakh Akhriev. Also found is a fragment of a wooden door, which was used by medieval Ingush, original stone floors and much more.
I would like to express my gratitude to the Safmar Charity Foundation and its founder Mikayil Gutseriev for invaluable support in the creation of the Nasledie School, which is part of a long-term project to research and restore more than 3,000 monuments of Ingush medieval architecture, said the head of the Republic of Ingushetia Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov.
