The architectural complex “Salt Town” is planned to be fully transferred to the Museum of the Defense and Siege of Leningrad. The complex has the status of an object of cultural heritage of federal significance, in 1944-1949 all its premises were occupied first by the exhibition and then by the Museum of the Defense of Leningrad, today in the buildings of the town is located the Naval Academy.
Salt Town is a complex of buildings bounded by the Fontanka embankment, Salt Lane, Pestel and Gangut streets. It was named after the salt warehouses located in the buildings of the town until the middle of the 19th century.
