June 10 is World Art Nouveau Day.
Art Nouveau is a complex, multifaceted artistic phenomenon that has left the brightest trace in architecture, design and art. Originating at the turn of the XIX-XX centuries, this large-scale trend in different countries received its own features and names. Architects around the world tried to develop a new artistic language that would meet the trends of the time. Art Nouveau in general is characterized by smooth curved lines, the rejection of sharp angles, an abundance of floral and plant motifs, laconic forms and the use of modern technology at that time. Another feature of Art Nouveau was a return to tradition, when the architect drew everything “to the last nail” - from the general sketch of the structure to the drawings of door handles, window coverings, lamps and fireplaces.
