Welcome to the Irafsky District of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. Located in the southwestern part of the republic, most of the district is mountainous. It borders Georgia, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, and the Digorsky and Alagirsky districts. The administrative center is the village of Chikola. The population is over 15,000 people, mainly Ossetians and Russians. The Ossetians of the district speak the Digor dialect of the Ossetian language. The economy of the Irafsky District is based on agriculture—there are five collective farms and four state farms here. The district also has a consumer services complex, housing and utilities enterprises, and the Fasnalskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant. Tourism is well developed. The district is rich in historical, cultural, and natural monuments. The Alania National Park is located in the district, where there are many mountaineering, tourist, and ecological trails.

On October 22, Eldar Afashokov, Acting Chairman of the Committee on Press and Mass Communications of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, paid a working visit to the Irafsky District.

He met with Robert Khamikoyev, Head of the Irafsky District, to discuss the role of municipal media and ways to develop it.

During a visit to the editorial office of the Iraf newspaper, he spoke with Editor-in-Chief Madina Khotsaonova about increasing circulation, expanding the audience, and solving problems with delivery of the publication to residents.

Eldar Afashokov emphasized the importance of rapid response in the republic's information field.
