In Petrozavodsk, the capital of Karelia, restoration of the Mining Chief's House continues. The work includes restoration of floors, stairs and brickwork, rafters and wooden facades, as well as replacement of windows, doors and porch.
The building was built in the late 18th century for Charles Gascoyne, the director of the Alexander Plant and manager of the Olonets Mining District, who lived in Petrozavodsk from 1786 to 1806.
