An ancient Christian artifact has been discovered in mountainous Ingushetia.
During a research expedition, staff from the Dzheyrakh-Assinsky State Historical, Architectural, and Natural Museum-Reserve discovered a stone structure in the form of a tribune with an engraved cross near the Keli tower complex.
According to preliminary research, the find dates to the early Christian period—the period from the emergence of Christianity (approximately the early 1st century) to the First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea (325).
The archival service believes that the stone tribune may be one of the oldest Christian artifacts in modern-day Russia.
