Today is the birthday of Nikolai Alexandrovich Lvov (May 15, 1753 - January 3, 1804) - a talented Russian architect, follower of Palladianism, one of the brightest and most versatile representatives of the Russian Enlightenment.
Nikolai Alexandrovich - one of the erudite and witty people of his time. He harmoniously combined talents of a graphic artist, engraver, historian, botanist and horticulturist, poet, playwright, translator, musician.
He also studied archaeology, chemistry, geology, mechanics, collected folk songs, created a verse translation of Anacreontic songs. All sciences he studied independently, by books. He also independently mastered drawing, painting, engraving and architecture.
N.A.Lvov left a vast creative heritage, becoming the author of many iconic objects of Russian classical architecture in St. Petersburg and its environs, in Moscow, in his homeland - in Torzhok, and in many other cities.
