Irafsky District

Welcome to the Irafsky District of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. Located in the southwestern part of the republic, most of the district is mountainous. It borders Georgia, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, and the Digorsky and Alagirsky districts. The administrative center is the village of Chikola. The population is over 15,000 people, mainly Ossetians and Russians. The Ossetians of the district speak the Digor dialect of the Ossetian language. The economy of the Irafsky District is based on agriculture—there are five collective farms and four state farms here. The district also has a consumer services complex, housing and utilities enterprises, and the Fasnalskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant. Tourism is well developed. The district is rich in historical, cultural, and natural monuments. The Alania National Park is located in the district, where there are many mountaineering, tourist, and ecological trails.

On December 13, the Chikola Sports Complex hosted a freestyle wrestling tournament for boys born in 2009-2010 .

About 100 athletes from various sports schools in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, districts of the republic, and the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the competition.

According to the results of the competition, the winners and prize-winners from the Irafsky district were: Amir Marzoev (42 kg), David Dzatuev (48 kg), Rustam Dzgoev (48 kg), and Artur Gulcheev (60 kg).

The boys were awarded medals, certificates, and championship belts.

Holding a tournament of this level makes a significant contribution to the development of children's and youth sports, serves to continue traditions, and identify new talents.
