The Sunzha District House of Culture hosted a colorful performance of the ancient Ingush rite of passage into manhood.
The central test for young men in this rite is answering difficult questions reflecting the life experience and moral values of the people.
Traditionally, the “initiation into manhood” was held in the fall after the harvest. Having successfully passed the tests, the young man was entitled to wear an Ingush hat and the national accessory - t1ekhkr. This symbolized his entry into adulthood and the opportunity to participate in public affairs.
