Irafsky District

Welcome to the Irafsky District of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. Located in the southwestern part of the republic, most of the district is mountainous. It borders Georgia, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, and the Digorsky and Alagirsky districts. The administrative center is the village of Chikola. The population is over 15,000 people, mainly Ossetians and Russians. The Ossetians of the district speak the Digor dialect of the Ossetian language. The economy of the Irafsky District is based on agriculture—there are five collective farms and four state farms here. The district also has a consumer services complex, housing and utilities enterprises, and the Fasnalskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant. Tourism is well developed. The district is rich in historical, cultural, and natural monuments. The Alania National Park is located in the district, where there are many mountaineering, tourist, and ecological trails.

A district football tournament among primary branches of the "Movement of the First" was held in Chikola.

Children born in 2014-2015 took to the field.

The local branch of the "Movement of the First" organized the tournament together with Oleg Nadgeriev, football coach at the A. Fadzaev Children's and Youth Sports School.

The placings were as follows:

1st place - Surkh-Digora Secondary School;

2nd place - Sovetskoye Secondary School;

3rd place - Chikola Secondary School No. 3.

Special mentions were given to the best players:

Best goalkeeper - Batraz Gobeev (Sovetskoye);

Best defender - Vitaly Hekilaev (School No. 3, Chikola);

Best midfielder - Dzambulat Gabeev (Surkh-Digora);

Best Forward: Renat Godzoev (Surkh-Digora);

Tournament Best Player: David Gobeev (Surkh-Digora).
