Today, one of the oldest monuments in Russia - the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary of the Antony Monastery in Veliky Novgorod - will be opened after two years of restoration. According to legend, the monastery on the bank of the Volkhov River was founded in 1106 on the place where a stone with the monk Anthony, who had sailed from Rome, landed. In the XII century, the first Russian mathematician Kirik, the creator of the “Doctrine of Numbers”, worked within the walls of the monastery.
