During archaeological research inside one of the residential towers of the Tumgi Tower Complex in mountainous Ingushetia, Russian archaeologists made a unique discovery: fragments of an ancient settlement, presumably dating back to the Bronze Age, were found under the cultural layer. This event aroused enormous interest among both researchers and the general public.
Particular attention was drawn to the regularity of the stone layout and the presence of a complex system of fortifications, the likes of which have not yet been found in neighboring regions of the North Caucasus. Experts suggest that the structures found may have served as a place of residence and refuge for early representatives of the local population, who played a key role in the ethnogenesis of the modern Ingush people.
