This year, the Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments of St. Petersburg will begin restoration of the courtyard facades of the Tolstoy House, located between Rubinstein Street and the Fontanka River Embankment.
The house of Major-General of the Reserve Count Mikhail Pavlovich Tolstoy was built according to the project of the outstanding architect Fyodor Lidval in 1910-1912 in the style of Northern Art Nouveau with elements of neoclassicism. In 1913, after the Count's death, the house was passed to his widow Olga Alexandrovna and became known as “General's Tolstoy's house”.
