The controversy over the construction of the Smolny Cathedral bell tower has resumed again. The other day at a meeting of the World Club of Petersburgers, Mr. Uralov, an honored artist of the Russian Federation, proposed to build the bell tower after all, but as an exhibit of the Museum of Architecture. He presented two options for placing the unbuilt Smolny belfry - on a drop-shaped section of the Smolny Embankment (Orlovski Tunnel junction) or among Gazprom's skyscrapers on Lakhta.
Opinions of the club members were divided. The public discussion around the bell tower will continue.
Mr. Uralov continue to be engaged in creation of panels and painting.
