Mamison Resort

Mamison is an all-season resort in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. It is located in the famous Mamison Gorge, 100 kilometers from Vladikavkaz. In summer, scenic hikes and excursions to the springs are available, while in winter, the ski slopes open for skiing. Guests at the resort can enjoy delicious cuisine and choose from a variety of accommodation options, including an eco-village, space glamping, and a tent camp. You can also learn more about the region's history by visiting the 7th-9th century Christian church sanctuary, the open-air museum of Lisri village, and many other attractions.

Ministry of Economic Development: Private investors have poured nearly 7 billion rubles into the development of the Mamison resort.

During a working visit to the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania, Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Sergey Nazarov inspected the transport, utility, and tourism infrastructure of the all-season Mamison resort.

The future development of the resort, the implementation of investment projects, and preparations for the winter season were among the key topics discussed at a meeting chaired by Nazarov. Participants included the Head of North Ossetia, Sergey Menyailo; the Chairman of the Republic’s Government, Boris Dzhanaev; the General Director of Kavkaz.RF, Andrey Yumshanov; as well as representatives from federal and regional authorities and various investors.

Private investors have already contributed 6.89 billion rubles toward the resort’s development. In total, 17 residents of the special economic zone plan to invest 26.9 billion rubles. These funds are earmarked for the construction of 17 hotels, 193 modular accommodation units, and 25 restaurants and cafés. Once these projects are completed, the resort will be able to offer tourists over 6,100 beds, with plans to create 1,346 jobs.

To date, 176 jobs have already been created at Mamison. Several hotels, cafés, restaurants, sports equipment rental shops, and other tourism-related services are already operational. Ahead of the winter season, investors are continuing construction work and preparing new accommodation facilities. By the end of 2026, the opening of additional dining establishments and staff housing is planned.

"Our task today is to ensure the synchronized development of all the resort's infrastructure. The state has established the foundational conditions for its operation." "It is now crucial that hotels, restaurants, and other tourism facilities are developed in line with investors' commitments, and that utility infrastructure is prepared to handle the increasing load. Particular attention must be paid to water supply, adherence to construction timelines, and preparations for the winter season. We will address these matters systematically, in collaboration with the republic’s leadership, Kavkaz.RF, and the residents of the special economic zone," noted Sergey Nazarov.

The resort currently features over 20 km of ski slopes and two cable car lines. In the first nine months of 2026, the Mamison resort welcomed nearly 60,000 tourists.

As part of the winter preparations, special focus is being placed on the artificial snowmaking system. This year, Kavkaz.RF specialists have fine-tuned the equipment and replaced specific components and units. Additionally, work has been carried out on various sections of the ski slopes, utility networks, and tourist service facilities.

"The artificial snowmaking system, which became operational in late 2025, covers an area of over 276,000 square meters. This reduces the resort's dependence on natural weather conditions, allowing snow production to begin as soon as temperatures consistently drop below freezing. We have also incorporated guest feedback from the previous season: the operations team has created convenient transitions between slopes, ensuring that beginner snowboarders do not lose momentum on certain parts of the terrain. For families with children, we are constructing a tubing hill with two separate runs. We anticipate that by the start of the winter season, the resort will offer nearly 700 beds; two residents are set to open a 200-seat restaurant and a 3-star hotel with a capacity of 160 guests," explained Andrey Yumshanov, CEO of Kavkaz.RF. The resort and its residents are filling the winter events calendar with a mix of entertainment and cultural activities. For instance, the resort’s exhibition space is set to feature a new installation that plays on the "windy" character of Mamison, alongside the continuation of the "Slow Life Workshops" creative project.

Another topic discussed at the meeting was the expansion of the special economic zone. In June 2026, additional land plots totaling 233.56 hectares were incorporated into its boundaries. A further expansion—covering an additional 184.44 hectares—is currently being planned, a process that will require addressing various land-use and urban planning issues.

The development of Mamison is progressing under a joint roadmap established by the Government of North Ossetia and Kavkaz.RF, which encompasses the construction of tourism facilities and engineering infrastructure, as well as the implementation of projects by investors.
