Irafsky District

Welcome to the Irafsky District of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. Located in the southwestern part of the republic, most of the district is mountainous. It borders Georgia, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, and the Digorsky and Alagirsky districts. The administrative center is the village of Chikola. The population is over 15,000 people, mainly Ossetians and Russians. The Ossetians of the district speak the Digor dialect of the Ossetian language. The economy of the Irafsky District is based on agriculture—there are five collective farms and four state farms here. The district also has a consumer services complex, housing and utilities enterprises, and the Fasnalskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant. Tourism is well developed. The district is rich in historical, cultural, and natural monuments. The Alania National Park is located in the district, where there are many mountaineering, tourist, and ecological trails.

In the village of Lesken, an event entitled "Poetry - A Wonderful Universe" was held for residents of the Irafsky District Social Services Department No. 2.

It is well known that poetry can awaken the deepest emotions in a person, touch the soul's innermost chords, provide comfort, and help overcome life's adversities.

The participants warmly recalled famous poets of the Golden and Silver Ages, discovering new facets of their work and their rich inner world. They then read their favorite works with genuine pleasure.
