Archaeological research has begun at the Thaba-Yerdy Temple, a cultural heritage site of federal significance in mountainous Ingushetia. On the second day of excavations, the team of archaeologists already discovered unique historical artifacts.

Work is nearing completion on the reconstruction of the stone parts of the gate to Priory Park. By the end of this year, the gate to the historic Gatchina Park should be installed according to the ACM Group project.

On October 23 and 24, ACM Group will participate in the XXIII Forum of Strategists 2025. The main theme of the forum is “Cities with Special Status: Balancing Cultural Heritage Preservation and Development.” The forum will discuss issues related to the regulation of urban planning legislation and legislation in the field of cultural heritage protection, providing for individualized approaches and legislative norms for historical settlements of federal significance.

ACM Group continues its work to identify unregistered historical buildings in the mountainous region of Ingushetia and add them to the Unified Electronic Database of Monuments in Ingushetia, which is being created by the company with the support of the SAFMAR Charitable Foundation. Buildings that have the characteristics of cultural heritage sites must also be entered into the Register of Cultural Heritage Sites of Ingushetia for their legal and actual protection.

The ACM Group team has completed its work on studying and identifying buildings and steles at the Metshal Tower Complex. The existing register contains 12 cultural heritage sites, including towers and farm buildings. ACM Group specialists have identified 77 more historical monuments at “Metshal” that have the characteristics of cultural heritage sites, including unique towers and crypts.

ACM Group has sent 77 applications to the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites in Ingushetia to include the identified sites in the Register of Newly Identified Cultural Heritage Sites in Ingushetia. We hope that within 90 working days, another 77 objects will legally become identified cultural heritage sites of the Russian Federation and take their rightful place among other unique monuments of the country. ACM Group is ready to provide all the additional assistance necessary to legally protect the unique buildings and steles of the Metshal Tower Complex.

Six projects completed with the direct participation of ACM Group have been nominated for the 8th International Golden Trezzini Award 2025.

On October 17, the State Institute of Art Studies will host an open discussion on the topic: “Income-generating buildings of the 19th and early 20th centuries in Russia. Urban environment. Heritage. Problems. Prospects.”

The focus will be on historic apartment buildings in St. Petersburg, Moscow, and other cities, which at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries defined the appearance and spatial structure of Russia's industrial centers. However, today their elegant facades often conceal gloomy stairwells and communal apartments, which have replaced the once luxurious flats.

What should be done with this beautiful but painfully neglected architectural heritage?

ACM Group is completing design work for the restoration of the main building of Moscow State University on Vorobyovy Gory. It is perhaps one of the largest buildings in the country.

ACM Group is considering participating in the restoration and adaptation project for the Museum of Moscow, located in the historic buildings of the former Proviant warehouses on Zubovsky Boulevard in Moscow. The museum includes branches: the Museum of Archaeology of Moscow, the Museum of the History of Lefortovo, the Museum of the Garden Ring, the Museum of Zelenograd, the Gilyarovsky Center, and the N.A. Dobrolyubov Library.

The warehouse complex was built in 1835 according to a design by architects V. Stasov and F. Shestakov. The warehouses were intended for storing food for the military units stationed in the Khamovnichesky, Spassky, and Lefortovsky barracks. In the early 1930s, the warehouses were transferred to the motor depot of the General Staff of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. In 2009, the Moscow government donated the Proviant Warehouses to the Museum of Moscow.

The Association of Architectural Studios of St. Petersburg continues to prepare the new 24th edition of the Architectural Yearbook. AAS has been supporting this tradition for over 20 years, creating a unique archive of the professional community. Each edition is a contribution to the history of architecture in our country.

“ACM Group” will present completed restoration projects in the new yearbook:

- The main building of Moscow State University on Vorobyovy Gory in Moscow,

- The “Gaghi Gilash” tower complex in mountainous Ingushetia,

- The iconostasis of the Transfiguration Cathedral in Perm.

From October 24 to November 2, the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall in St. Petersburg will host the Architecton MMXXV festival, an event bringing together architects, urban planners, developers, designers, and anyone interested in architecture. The program includes an award ceremony, exhibitions, discussions, lectures, and tours.

Recalling two years of work on the restoration of the Wavelberg Banker's House, a cultural heritage site of federal significance on Nevsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg, and its conversion into the five-star WAWELBERG Hotel, we often look back at various photographs, both historical and taken during construction, as well as the final results. We would like to share a few of them with you.

And then, at the end of October, the most interesting part will begin, because today there are fewer historical buildings at the unique Nii complex than are listed in the existing Register.

An unusual situation...

The former Polovtsov riding hall building at 12 Kryukov Canal Embankment in St. Petersburg has been designated a regional heritage site.

The building was constructed in 1889 based on a design by architect Maximilian Mesmacher for Senator Alexander Polovtsov, Secretary of the State Council, and his wife, Nadezhda Mikhailovna, the adopted daughter of Baron Alexander von Stieglitz.

Alexander Polovtsov was a horse lover and connoisseur. The building housed a riding arena for training, horse riding lessons, and periodic dressage competitions.

After 1910, at various times, it housed a small theater, an operetta theater, and an arts center. From 1946, the building was occupied by the Leningrad Film Chronicle Studio.

On the grounds of the building, the exhibition of achievements in the national economy has begun restoration of Pavilion 62, entitled “Nature Conservation.” The building is a cultural heritage site of federal significance.

The pavilion, built in 1954, is located on Lipovaya Alley. The central part of the building is a metal frame filled with large faceted glass blocks. The main entrance is faced with colored smalt. Initially, various architectural products were exhibited here, but later the pavilion became the venue for the All-Russian Society for Nature Conservation.

During the restoration, the building will be returned to its historical appearance, and the bas-reliefs and decorative vases on the parapet will be restored. In addition, the facades, roof, mosaics, and wooden windows and doors, which are decorated with brass and bronze overlays, will be restored.

The finalists of the 8th International Golden Trezzini Competition 2025 have been announced.

Three projects by ACM Group architects were shortlisted by the distinguished jury and became finalists in various categories of the prestigious competition:

- Towers of the Pskov-Pechersk Monastery. Pskov Region. Pechory.

- Tkhaba-Yerda Temple. Ingushetia. Mountainous region.

- Church of the Holy Trinity. St. Petersburg. Oktyabrskaya Embankment, 18.

If you read all the open sources on the North Caucasus, the most information is available on the City of the Dead “Tsoi-Pede” in Chechnya, the City of the Dead “Fardyk-Keshen” in Kabardino-Balkaria, and, of course, the City of the Dead ‘Dargavs’ in North Ossetia, as “the largest complex of its kind in the North Caucasus,” with 95 crypts.

Why is there virtually no mention of the “Shoan City of the Dead,” located in a remote mountainous part of Ingushetia and actually the largest crypt complex in the North Caucasus?

The ACM Group team has completed its work on studying and identifying crypts in the “Shoan City of the Dead.” For some reason, the existing Register of Cultural Heritage Sites lists only 76 crypts. ACM Group specialists have identified 175 more historical monuments in the Shoan City of the Dead that have the characteristics of cultural heritage sites, including 2 sanctuaries, 169 crypts, and 4 steles.

On November 7, the St. Petersburg branch of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments invites you to the VII scientific and practical conference “Tikhonov Readings.”

The theme of the conference is “Let's preserve and restore our beloved city. To the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.” The conference is traditionally dedicated to the memory of Lev Pavlovich Tikhonov, deputy chairman of the All-Russian Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments from 1973 to 2005.

Today, in 1759, the great Russian architect Andrei Nikiforovich Voronikhin was born into the family of a clerk from the serfs belonging to Count Alexander Sergeevich Stroganov in the village of Novoye Usolye, Solikamsk District, Kazan Province.

What more needs to be said when the architect is the designer of the Stroganov Palace on Nevsky Prospekt, Kazan Cathedral, the Mining Institute, and the interiors of the palaces in Peterhof, Strelna, Gatchina, and Pavlovsk?
