The fortress was founded in 1280, the walls and towers date back to the middle of the XV century, the church - XVI-XVII centuries. The area of the fortress is 10.3 thousand square meters.
In 2020, the story of the collapse of a part of the wall in the entrance area received a public outcry, after which the fortress was closed for anti-damage works.
With the support of a grant from the Russian Geographical Society, the monograph “Vladikavkaz - the Fate of a Fortress”, written by Delyara Tebiyeva, Head of the Department of Physical and Socio-Economic Geography at North Ossetian State University, and Lyubov Kebalova, Associate Professor at the Department of Ecology and Nature Management, was published.

The Jeyrakh-Assin historical, architectural and natural museum-reserve is located within the boundaries of the Jeyrakh district of the Republic of Ingushetia on the northern slopes of the foothills of the Central part of the Greater Caucasus Range. The reserve was established on June 2, 1988. The area of the reserve is slightly more than 627 square kilometers. The activity of the reserve is aimed at ensuring the preservation, restoration and study of territorial complexes of cultural and natural heritage, material and spiritual values in their traditional historical (cultural and natural) environment.
