Today one of the oldest estates in Moscow, Kuskovo, celebrates its 310th anniversary. Kuskovo today is both an architectural and park ensemble of the XVIII century and the only specialized Museum of Ceramics in the country.
The ensemble of the summer residence of the Sheremetyevs was formed in 1750-1770 . Its territory was divided into three parts: “zaprudnaya”, the central one with a regular park, palace and pavilions, and the English landscape park “Gai”. The regular part of the estate with marble sculpture, obelisk and column, ponds, canals and the main architectural monuments have been preserved most fully.
Today, in 1769, architect Vasily Petrovich Stasov, one of the most prominent representatives of late classicism and Empire in the times of Alexander I and Nicholas I, was born into a poor noble family.
According to his designs, many buildings were built and reconstructed in St. Petersburg, without which it is impossible to imagine the look of our city today - the Transfiguration Cathedral, the barracks of the Pavlovsk Life Guards Regiment, the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum, the Narva Triumphal Gates, the Trinity-Ismailov Cathedral, the complex of buildings of the Smolny Monastery and many others.
The restoration of the facades of the N.A. Durasov Palace, the main ornament of the Lublino estate, was completed. The palace was built in the unusual form of an equal-pointed cross with a rotunda at the turn of the XVIII-XIX centuries.
Its parts are connected by a two-row gallery of colonnades. The restorers tidied up the white stone plinth, staircases and their railings, washed the sculpture crowning the dome. In addition, gutters, cornice openings and window moldings were replaced. During the works, the halls of the palace, where the original paintings of ceilings and walls with antique scenes were preserved, were not closed to visitors.

The second phase is to restore the South-East and North-East curtain walls, Basta Bastion, New Arsenal and Tenali with gates. The fortress museum will not be closed during the restoration.
The Shchusev Museum of Architecture is preparing to open an exhibition dedicated to the anniversary of one of the famous Moscow architects of the turn of the XIX-XX centuries.
Illarion Ivanov-Shits is considered one of the main representatives of Moscow Art Nouveau. His architecture was characterized by elegance, attention to detail and the ability to combine the utilitarian function of the building with an expressive artistic appearance. Ivanov-Shits left a vivid trace in the appearance of Moscow - his designs were used to build the Palace on the Yauza River, the Main Moscow Savings Bank in Rakhmanovsky Lane, the Abrikosova Maternity Orphanage on Miusskaya Square, and the Club of the Moscow Merchant Assembly on Malaya Dmitrovka, where the Lenkom Theater is now located.
The exhibition “Half a Century in the Service of Moscow” will open in November in the halls of the Anfilade. It is based on the unique collection of the A.V. Shchusev Museum of Architecture - design drawings, sketches, templates, photocopies, as well as watercolors depicting the facades, interiors and design elements of the buildings.

Restoration work continues with the participation of ACM Group on the main spire crowned with a star on the main building of Moscow State University on Vorobyovy Gory.
It is interesting that initially in the project of architect Lev Rudnev, not the spire with a star, but a sculpture was chosen. It could be a statue of Joseph Stalin, Vladimir Lenin or Mikhail Lomonosov about 40 meters high.
Well, since they did not make a statue, we climb around the star at a height of 240 meters.

St. Petersburg plans to strengthen control over the preservation of historic stained glass windows in residential buildings. For this purpose they will combine the efforts of several agencies and develop changes in regulations. On this topic the day before held a working meeting with the Housing Committee, the Fund for Capital Repair, Committee for State Control, Use and Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments and Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, as well as citizens who are not indifferent to the preservation of stained glass.
"Preservation of stained glass windows is a contribution to the historical image of the city and the comfort of residents. Careful attitude to such details makes St. Petersburg unique! Preservation of architectural heritage is a joint task of the authorities, management organizations and residents", - said the head of the Housing Committee Denis Udod.
How many stained glass windows and other details and elements did the city have to lose in order to finally express such an obvious and wise thought.

Registration for the XVI All-Russian Conference "Preservation and Revival of Small Historical Towns and Rural Settlements: Problems and Prospects. Complex development programs", which this year will be held on September 18-20 in Kolomna.
On August 16, the Old Ladoga Fortress invites you to Staraya Ladoga for the opening of a large-scale historical exposition "On Guard of Northern Borders. Ladoga in the XVI-XVIII centuries", dedicated to the role of Ladoga as a key outpost. Here, at the walls of the legendary citadel, the paths of history crossed in the XVII century. Ladoga became not only a fortress - it became a living symbol of Russia's steadfastness. In the years of the Troubles, when the very existence of the country was hanging by a thread, it was the stone walls of the fortress that took the blow of the northern invaders. And in 1617, the Stolbovsky Peace Treaty, which defined new borders and a new era, put an end to a long confrontation near Ladoga.
The exposition in the Gate Tower is an immersion into that crucial time, when every stone of the fortress remembers the rattle of cannons, and the fate of the defenders merges with the fate of the fatherland. Thanks to the model of defensive structures, the Ladoga Fortress can be seen as it was in the XVII century.
"ACM Group is starting survey and design work in Nevinnomyssk, Stavropol Territory.
The place is ancient - in the second half of the first millennium A.D. one of the branches of the Great Silk Road from the lower Volga River to Transcaucasia and Black Sea ports ran here. There are evidences that Huns, Avars, Pechenegs, Polovtsians and Mongols visited the area. Archaeologists have found in this area Scythian, Khazar and Sarmatian burials, as well as traces of Alanian, ancient Bulgarian and Horde settlements.
And by the way, Nevinnomyssk in 1850 visited Prince Alexander Nikolaevich - the future Emperor Alexander II, and also in 1894 merchant 1st guild Baranov introduced in the city one of the largest in the Caucasus steam mills, and more - in 1895 in Nevinnomyssk merchant Lapin built the largest in the Russian Empire wool-washing factory.
This week specialists of the International Restoration Center are working in the Museum of the History of the City of Shlisselburg to restore the exposition appearance of the 17th century cannon raised from the bottom of the Neva River.

How were books and newspapers printed in the early twentieth century? How did the printing house work, where posters, business cards, advertising leaflets were created?
The exhibition “The Old Printing House”, opening in the Museum of Printing on the embankment of the Moika River, will reveal the structure of printing production and the role of St. Petersburg as a publishing center. At the end of the XIX century St. Petersburg was a concentration of printing houses. Collected works of classics, scientific works, art albums were printed here. Large publishers participated in industrial exhibitions, created educational institutions, and developed the printing business. One of the surviving examples of a private printing house is the building on Volynsky Lane. Built in 1905 on Alexei Suvorin's funds, it functioned as a full-fledged printing complex. The exhibition allows you to look inside and understand how the work of the workshops was organized. The exhibition also includes printing presses, typesetting presses, and cutting machines.
Uglich plans to restore the historical appearance of the Church of Nikola on Sukhi Prudy - an architectural monument of the XVIII century.
The church, located on February Street, will undergo a comprehensive restoration - cleaning and repair of masonry, elimination of bio-damage of facades, restoration of the lost pentaglion with gilded crosses and bell tower. Inside, it is planned to restore monumental painting, arrange floors with ventilated underground and modernize engineering systems.
The history of the Church of St. Nicholas on Sukhy Prudy goes back to the beginning of the XVII century, when on the site of the temple stood St. John the Theologian Monastery, destroyed in 1609 during the Polish invasion. After the Troubles a wooden church was erected here, and in 1735-1758 it was replaced by a stone five-domed church with a three-tiered bell tower, stone fence and rich interiors. A fire in 1822 severely damaged the building, but it was soon rebuilt.
