Welcome to the Elbrus District!

The Elbrus District is located in the southwestern part of Kabardino-Balkaria. It covers an area of ​​approximately 1,850 km². The district capital is Tyrnyauz.

Most of the district is located in the highlands, along the Greater Caucasus Range. The highest point in Russia and Europe, the two-peaked extinct volcano Elbrus (5,642 m and 5,621 m), is located within the district.

The district is rich in historical and archaeological sites (prehistoric sites, towers), as well as natural monuments, including 23 glaciers.

The district's economy is primarily focused on tourism. The Elbrus region is a center for skiing and mountaineering. The Azau and Elbrus ski resorts are located in the district. The ski season lasts from November to mid-May, and in some areas of Elbrus, it is open year-round.

The Elbrus region attracts tourists with its picturesque landscapes, opportunities for active recreation and mountaineering, as well as the region's unique nature and history.
