Lower Pui is a large castle-type tower complex located in the Jeirakh district in the southern part of the Targim basin, at the beginning of the Guloikhi gorge in the highlands of Ingushetia, near the confluence of its right tributary - the Guloikhi River into the Assu River.
Now there is a battle tower and more than a dozen residential towers of varying degrees of preservation with a variety of annexes and defensive walls of the late Middle Ages. Over the tower complex Pui is dominated by an elegant battle tower, which has an almost square base, five floors, a stepped-pyramidal roof and stone hinged mashikuli-balconies on only three sides, which is rare in the architecture of such towers.
Residential towers in terms of both rectangular and trapezoidal, 2-4 storeys, with a flat roof and a high parapet, stood out for their perfection, in them you could find hidden shelters, tunnels-crossings, original battlegrounds, extensive loggias. On individual residential towers there were numerous petroglyphs. The complex was fenced with a stone barrier wall up to 4 m high, with wide arched locking gates.
Within the tower complex of the Lower Puy there were several necropolises consisting of stone-box burial grounds of the XIII-XIV centuries, semi-underground crypt tombs of the XIII-XV centuries and terrestrial collective solar burial grounds of the XV-XVI centuries. A large two-storey ground dilapidated crypt, which has more than 7 meters in length, with a stone overlap in the form of a false vault between floors, stands out. Also on the outskirts of the complex stood four pillar-shaped sanctuaries.
The tower complex Nizhny Pui occupied an important strategic position in the past, guarding the approaches to the mountain Assinskaya (Targim) basin from the southern and eastern sides.
The Nizhny Pui Tower complex is part of the Dzhirakh-Assin State Historical, Architectural and Natural Museum-Reserve and is an identified object of cultural heritage protected by the state.
