Cyclopic buildings are structures of huge uncooked stone blocks of solutionless masonry of a horizontal plan, ancient stone dwellings. The ancient Greeks attributed them to the Cyclops, hence the name. On the territory of mountain Ingushetia, such buildings were discovered by scientists in the early twentieth century in the Assin basin near the villages of Egikal, Kart, Doshkhakle.

These cyclopean buildings are located 100-150 meters west of the b.c. Lower Doshhakle.

Professor L.P. Semenov, who first drew attention to this type of buildings near the medieval tower settlement of Doshkhakle, in the mountainous Assinovskaya basin, notes that such structures are clearly cyclopean and are attributed to devas; "they or their types could precede the middle iron pore."

Some scientists believe that in the past they were much more, but economic activity for the development of territories has sharply reduced their number.

The fact that researchers do not agree on the time of the origin and subsequent functioning of cyclopean buildings in the mountainous zone says archaeologist Umalat Gadiev: They were studied by major scientists: Leonid Semenov, Evgeny Krupnov, but the results of dating are ambiguous. The fact is that near them were found fragments of ceramics, the age of which Vladimir Markovin dated the Middle Bronze Age - the second millennium BC. I agree with this assessment, because very near, in the village of Egikal, archaeologists found crypts of the same time. They are built of processed stone and covered with megaliths. We know that if there are funerary monuments, then there should be settlements of the same period in the same zone. By the way, their dating is indirectly indicated by Ingush legends, according to which these buildings were erected by wampala giants, who were popularly called “devas”. Perhaps the legends of giants originated with the Ingush because of the size of these stones.”

Cyclopean structures are considered a masterpiece of ancient civilization – no one knows exactly who built them and why.
