Tse-Kaloy architectural complex is located in the village of Tse-Kaloy in Itum-Kali district of the Chechen Republic, 29 km to the south-west of the district center Itum-Kali, on the right bank of the river Maystoyn-Ekhk.
The complex consists of one battle tower, which is in satisfactory condition and nine residential towers, seven of them lost roofs and ceilings, two are in a dilapidated state. The battle tower has a pyramid-step roof and a vaulted ceiling of the 2nd floor. It is visually connected with the towers of the villages of Vaserkel and Pogo. Residential towers are quite high in relation to the area, mostly four-storey. The upper part of the walls of almost all residential towers was destroyed. The general condition of the complex is emergency.
Until 1944, people lived in Tse-Kaloy despite the fact that the complex is high, in inaccessible terrain and away from the roads. Now the complex is not inhabited and is difficult for tourists to visit - you will have to climb up a difficult trail with a length of 7 km. The best time to visit is summer.
Tse-Kaloy architectural complex is a sample of the Chechen medieval tower settlement. Residential towers have been preserved here, which have pitched roofs unusual for most mountainous areas of Chechnya (from shale slabs) and a battle tower with a vaulted ceiling of the 2nd floor and gurts. Almost all residential towers have mashikuli-balconies for shooting, which allows, if necessary, to conduct a circular defense of the village, hiding behind thick stone walls.
Tse-Kaloy architectural complex is an object of cultural heritage and is located on the territory of the Argun Historical, Architectural and Natural Museum-Reserve. Protected by the state.
