The Memorial of Memory and Glory is a visiting card of the Republic of Ingushetia, a large memorial complex and a unique historical and architectural project, which is located in the Nasyr-Kort administrative district of Nazran. It is dedicated to the most important historical events of the Republic – these are memorable dates, tragic and solemn moments, and outstanding personalities who contributed to the development of Ingushetia.

Construction of the memorial began in 1996. On February 23, 1997, on the 53rd anniversary of the tragedy of the Ingush and other deported peoples of the USSR, the Nine Towers complex was opened - the most magnificent building of the entire complex dedicated to the victims of repression and genocide. The author of the project is Honored Artist of Russia Murad Polonkoev.

The full decoration of the memorial as it is known today began in 2010. And for the 20th anniversary of the Republic of Ingushetia on June 9, 2012, the memorial, replenished with an alley, fountains, arches, bas-reliefs, was officially opened. The architectural ensemble includes: colonnades, located in a semicircle, on both sides of which there are 18 memorial plates with the names of prominent Ingush figures, a train during the deportation of the Ingush in 1944, a monument to the Ingush cavalry regiment “Wild Division”, a monument to the last defender of the Brest fortress, Lieutenant Umatgirey Artaganovych Barkhanoyev, a relief “Ingushetia’s Entry into Russia”, a bas-relief “Ingushetia” and a memorial plate of Ingush Heroes.

Various commemorative events are often held on the territory of the memorial complex, visits to official delegations are organized. In addition, it is an attractive place for both guests of the city of Nazran and local residents.

Nazran district

The Nazran District was established in 1924 as part of the Ingush Autonomous Region. Being part of the North Ossetian ASSR in 1944-1957, it had another name - Kosta-Khetagur. And after the collapse of the Chechen-Ingush ASSR in 1991-1992, it became part of Ingushetia. It received municipal status only in 2009. It is now divided into two parts due to the configuration of the territory. The district is located in the central and western parts of the republic and borders from the north with the Malgobek district, from the east - with the Sunzha, from the south and west - with the Republic of North Ossetia - Alania. About 100,000 people live on the territory of the district, including internally displaced persons from the RNO-Alania numbering 1,336 people, as well as internally displaced persons from the Chechen Republic - only 368 people. On the territory of the district flow rivers Sunzha, Surkhohi and Nazranka. Also an important water body of the area is the Alkhanchurt Canal. In Nazran district there are 30 educational institutions, including secondary, general and primary schools, as well as 1 hospital-stationary for 35 beds and 10 outpatient clinics. The region has developed agriculture: there are 8 state unitary enterprises, two agricultural cooperatives and 268 farms. There are 8,190 hectares of arable land on the balance sheet.
