Bekkhaila towers

The Bekkhaila combat towers are located in the Itum-Kali district of the Chechen Republic near the village of Kokadoy on the trail up Bekkhaila Mountain. They date from the 14th-16th centuries.

The complex of three towers. The towers are oriented to the sides of the world. They are in an emergency condition. The roofs and ceilings are destroyed. The towers are built on rocky ground, which is gradually destroyed by the elements and time. Tower No. 1 has a deepened pattern, played with light and shade, and sculptural heads of animals protruding from the wall. Tower No. 3 has been destroyed to the ground and has not been measured.

The Bekkhaila towers belong to the oldest type of Chechen fortifications. Situated on a high stone cliff, they are strikingly harmonious with the surrounding nature. The towers blend into the landscape to such an extent that they seem to grow out of the rocky massif on which they are built. The stone wall that used to connect the combat towers has only partially survived.

The Bekkhaila combat towers are an object of cultural heritage and are located on the territory of the Argun Historical, Architectural and Natural Museum-Reserve. It is protected by the state.
