Achkhoy-Martan is a town in the Chechen Republic. It is the administrative center of the Achkhoy-Martan municipal district and the largest rural settlement in the Chechen Republic. The town is situated on the Fortanga River (a tributary of the Sunzha), 48 km from Grozny, the capital of the Republic.

The earliest archaeological finds in the Achkhoy-Martan area date back to the Middle Ages. The founders of the city are considered to be the Ashkhoi, however, representatives of a large number of other taipas lived here.

In Achkhoy-Martan there are 9 secondary schools, 3 kindergartens, a sports complex, there is a district library with about 70 thousand copies of books, as well as a youth information center “Elbrus”. State farm “Achkhoy-Martan”, seed processing plant, plastic plant are organized in the town.

Now more than 31 thousand people live in the town.

The nearest settlements are: Bamut, Assinovskaya, Novy Sharoy, Shaami-Yurt, Katar-Yurt, Yandi and Stary Achkhoy.
