From May 2nd to 8th, Elbrus will host the 17th edition of the Red Fox Elbrus Race 2026 festival.

On May 3rd, the individual ski mountaineering race will take place. This sport debuted at the 2026 Winter Olympics, where Nikita Filippov, a regular participant in the Red Fox Elbrus Race, won silver in the sprint. The Elbrus race will be the final stage of the Russian Cup and a powerful conclusion to the season for professional athletes.

On May 5th, the vertical kilometer race will take place from 2,450 to 3,450 meters. This is the largest race of the festival and a stage of the Russian Cup. Skyrunners must complete the race within two hours.

On May 7th, the sky marathon race will take place, a race to the Western Summit of Elbrus (5,642 meters). The race will be held in two stages: from the Azau glade (2,350 m) and from the Bochki shelter (3,750 m).

Participants include national team representatives, winners of national championships, and World Cup stages. Athletes of any experience are also eligible to participate in the overall standings in all three events.

Erzi is one of the most famous tower complexes in Ingushetia and a federal cultural heritage site. It is located within the Erzi Nature Reserve (the word "arzi" means "eagle" in Ingush). The complex comprises eight military towers, two semi-military towers, 47 residential towers, one temple, and over 20 solar burial grounds, including the mausoleum of the famous tower builder, Yanda.

Erzi is a 10-minute drive from Armkhi; the route is included in the resort's excursion programs.

Elbrus is the legendary and highest mountain resort in the country, offering guests access to an altitude of 3,847 meters above sea level. It has been operating since the 1970s and remains one of the country's leading centers for skiing, sports, and mountaineering. Kavkaz.RF is managing the resort's modernization: this season, the ski area has been expanded and a snowmaking system has been launched, extending what is already the longest ski season in Russia—from November to July.

LeapRus is one of the highest hotels in the world, a modern acclimatization base for climbers, boasting comforts unusual for an altitude of 3,912 meters: electricity, hot water, internet access, and drying chambers. The hotel was built by the Italian company Leapfactory for the North Caucasus Mountain Club. The core of the resort, a four-story multifunctional center with an area of 7,500 square meters, is currently in the active construction phase. Earthworks have been completed, 1,663 m3 of concrete has been poured for the foundation slab, waterproofing of the foundation slab is underway, columns and walls on the first floor are being reinforced, and preparatory work is being carried out before pouring concrete for the first floor.

The next projects in line are roads and parking lots on the resort grounds, utility networks, and landscaping.

The project for dormitories for employees of the Caspian coastal cluster has been approved by Glavgosexpertiza.

A plot of land measuring more than 50,000 square meters in the central part of the resort has been allocated for construction. According to the project, two hotel-type buildings will be built here, each accommodating 340 people. The total building area will be almost 9,000 square meters.

"The buildings for staff accommodation will vary in height from three to four floors. Each of them will be U-shaped with a flat roof. The living rooms will be double and triple, each with a living and kitchen area, as well as a bathroom. Each building will have 151 living units," said Elena Ostapenko, representative of the Russian State Expert Review Board and chief expert of the project.

All the necessary transport and engineering infrastructure will be provided, including a boiler room and a gas control station.

Currently, a multifunctional center and residential facilities are under active construction, and road and engineering infrastructure is being created. The contractor for the first stage of construction has also been selected.

The Caspian resort will have parking lots, the necessary service infrastructure, and landscaping.

Russia's Main State Expert Review Board has confirmed that the design and estimate documentation and engineering surveys comply with building codes, technical regulations, and safety requirements. The projects for the improvement of the resort area and car parks have received a positive conclusion.

"We pay special attention to the safety of facilities. We will not only improve the coastal area, which stretches for more than six and a half kilometers, but also strengthen the coastline. We plan to build coastal protection structures. According to the project, these will be rough wave-breaking berms made of large stones. They will protect the beach from the negative impact of waves and make our guests' stay more comfortable," said Vladimir Lapukhin, Deputy CEO of Kavkaz.RF.

The improvement works will be carried out in two stages. The first will cover an area of more than 195,000 square meters, and the second will be slightly smaller, at 189,000 square meters.

"In the east, the cluster is washed by the Caspian Sea, and in the west, it is bordered by the foothills of the Greater Caucasus. The development site is a planned area that will feature a paved embankment, a bike path, pedestrian walkways and sidewalks, areas with small architectural forms, and green spaces," said Elena Ostapenko, representative of the Russian State Expert Review Board and chief expert of the project.

The infrastructure will be complemented by pavilions with rental points, toilets, mother and child rooms, amphitheaters on the boulevard and embankment, stands at sports grounds, and stairs.

Five car parks will appear at the resort. Two of them will be open-air and located at the entrances to the cluster – in the north from Makhachkala and in the south from Derbent. In addition, the project provides for the construction of three above-ground multi-level five-storey car parks. Two of them will have parking spaces for 12 buses, and the total number of parking spaces for cars in the multi-level parking lots will be almost 1,800.

The Caspian resort improvement project has already become a sensation in the architectural world—it has been shortlisted for the prestigious ADD Awards in the Landscape Design category and published as a project of the future on the popular Archi.ru portal. In the coming days, it will be defended for the Russian Landscape Architects Association Award (ALAROS). The general designer is the Bristol-Project consortium, and the concept developer is the Yarus design center with the participation of DK architects and Garden Group.

More than 40 km of power supply networks will be laid on the territory of the future seaside resort, more than 50 km of water supply and sewage pipes will be built, 9 km of gas pipelines and communication networks will be connected, and transformer substations, pumping stations, and sewage stations will be erected. Particular attention is paid to water treatment systems. The management company of the Kavkaz.RF tourist cluster is currently preparing documentation for a tender to select a contractor. The general designer for the creation of engineering networks at the resort is Bristol-Project.

"Well-designed engineering networks are invisible to tourists, but they are an essential part of the resort's infrastructure. They create the basis for a comfortable stay and the efficient and, most importantly, safe operation of future sanatoriums, hotels, water parks, concert halls, and sports halls, which residents of the SEZ are already beginning to build. This project differs from our previous mountain resorts in that most of the construction involves the construction of treatment facilities, as the marine cluster will be built on the first coastline," notes Vladimir Lapukhin, Deputy Director General of Kavkaz.RF.

“The design of treatment facilities is an important part of any construction project, especially in regions with unique natural conditions. Two more seaside resort projects are currently undergoing approval by Glavgosexpertiza. According to the documents, five parking lots with 1,925 parking spaces and landscaping with small architectural forms, greenery, public transport stops, and restrooms will appear on the cluster's territory.

Earlier this year, projects for the construction of a multifunctional center and road infrastructure for the resort were approved. Construction of the MFC has already begun, and the management company will start building roads before the end of the year; preparatory work is currently underway. Almost 16 km of road will have to be built from scratch, and pedestrian routes, checkpoints, and stops will have to be constructed. The resort's main highway will run along the upper border of the SEZ, with four exits leading to the resort area. The main pedestrian route will wind through almost the entire resort and lead to the central square and the marina.

Construction of a key facility for the new resort, a multifunctional center, is beginning on the second coastline. The progress of the mobilization work was assessed by CEO Andrey Yumshanov and Executive Director Hasan Timizhev.

The visitor center will become the heart of the Caspian Coastal Cluster. Its four floors, with a total area of 7,500 m2, will house a rescue station, a pharmacy, a medical center, a restaurant, a café, and souvenir shops.

In the spring, the project passed the Main State Expert Review, and in the summer, it received a construction permit. Commissioning is scheduled for autumn 2027. The Kavkaz.RF construction headquarters is opening on the territory of the SEZ. There will be daily interaction with contractors and residents. Construction work will continue throughout the year, as conditions on the Caspian coast are favorable for this.

In addition to the aforementioned visitor center, the main construction projects on the part of Kavkaz.RF include 20 km of roads, engineering networks (currently under review), treatment facilities, and transformer substations.

"In terms of capacity, this infrastructure is several times larger than what we usually build for ski resorts. But here, we not only have to create the infrastructure, we also have to show that this is a functioning resort with an established tourist flow and accommodation for all tourists. Therefore, we have a very difficult road ahead of us in the coming years. But we will be able to solve the problems that arise if we act together, as a united front," Andrey Yumshanov emphasized at a meeting with the head of the republic, Sergey Melikov, dedicated to the development of the resort.

Right now, a well for technical water has been installed at the construction site, a transformer has been installed, mobile homes have been delivered, and the site has been fenced off. The site has been laid out and the main period of work has begun: the first layer of fill for the foundation has been tested by the laboratory, and workers have begun filling the second layer.

The Caspian coastal cluster in Dagestan is being created on the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation and is part of the large-scale presidential project “Five Seas and Lake Baikal.”

The four-story building will house management and operational services, as well as a police station, sports equipment rental and service points, primary medical care offices, consumer services, catering, and retail outlets. All design solutions have been developed taking into account the seismicity of 9 points in the construction area," said Elena Ostapenko, chief expert of the Russian State Expert Review Board.

The total area of the center is 7,491.60 m². Of this, the total area of the retail space will be approximately 1,085 m². According to the design, the building will be rectangular in shape, with rounded forms and loggias. The curve on the main facade emphasizes the main entrance for visitors. The technological and architectural planning solutions of the building are designed for the simultaneous stay of more than 600 people. It is also planned to house a comprehensive resort security system, a gas control point, a diesel generator set, fire water storage tanks, and other engineering systems.

Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak held a meeting on labor productivity in tourism at the Mamison resort.

At the meeting, attended by North Ossetia Head Sergey Menyailo, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative in the district Vladimir Nadykto, Deputy Ministers of Economic Development Sergey Nazarov and Dmitry Vakhrukov, as well as the leadership of Kavkaz.RF, a pilot program to increase labor productivity in tourism was presented. The president has set an ambitious goal of increasing the growth rate of labor productivity in the country. Tourism has significant potential for such a leap forward, the deputy prime minister emphasized.

The implementation of this program will be handled by the industry competence center (ICC) in the field of tourism, created on the basis of Kavkaz.RF. The first successful projects are already in place — hoteliers themselves told Alexander Novak about them.

As a result of working with the ICC, the time required to completely clean a room at the five-star Mayri Park Hotel in Arkhyz was reduced by 24 minutes, rooms were ready for check-in an hour earlier, and guest complaints about room cleanliness/amenities ceased.

Employee engagement has increased significantly. People realized that they were not working more, but simply doing the same work as before more easily and quickly. The system for submitting suggestions for improvements allows employees to see that their ideas are visible, taken into account, and not lost somewhere in a paper trail. Optimization has allowed us to consider that with the further implementation of the proposed tools, the work of preparing a cottage for occupancy without loss of quality and time can be done by two employees instead of three, as is currently the case. This will allow us to clean more cottages at the same time, which is very important during peak periods, says Elena Kotova, general manager of the hotel.

One of the mechanisms for increasing labor productivity is “boxed solutions” — well-developed algorithms for changing the most routine and important hotel processes. These include: laundry turnover, room preparation and setup, guest reservations and accommodation, and buffet organization.

Another mechanism is targeted support for those lagging behind. Here, experts will focus primarily on health resorts and amusement parks, where, according to research, labor productivity is lowest and there is a lack of ready-made solutions due to the specific nature of each facility. Interestingly, the productivity of travel agencies and tour operators, on the contrary, exceeds the industry average, so this target group receives less attention in the program.

The personnel issue is also relevant for the Mamison resort, which opened last year and was built by Kavkaz.RF. The cluster became the first major state infrastructure project in the mountains after the introduction of European sanctions on cable car manufacturers. Currently, Mamison has two cable cars and 10 km of trails. The tourist flow in 2025 was 40,000 people, and in January of this year, it was 10,000 tourists.

Our experience gained at other resorts built by the company helps us resolve all the “teething problems” of the new facility. For example, the rescue and avalanche rescue services were trained by the nationally renowned Elbrus team, and the OCK is implementing the expertise gained at large resorts with a tourist flow of 7, 000-10 ,000 guests per day. We pay great attention to continuity and feedback from guests. This is a continuous process of improvement, where we cannot stop for a single day,

The implementation of the entire set of measures provided for in the program will increase labor productivity by 23% by 2030 compared to 2024. In real terms, this will increase the added value in four “tourist” areas by 179.4 billion rubles.

A new children's slope has appeared at the Chechen resort of Veduchi.

An additional grass ski lift has been installed on the 200-meter southern slope of the resort to make skiing lessons more effective.

The Veduchi resort is primarily geared towards active family vacations. It has a one-kilometer-long blue slope that is open all year round, with artificial snowmaking and lighting. There is a training slope, a children's slope, and a tubing park. During the New Year holidays alone, more than 400 children took to the slopes at Veduchi for the first time. Since the beginning of the year, 2,785 people have visited the resort under construction in Chechnya.

A unique cable car is being built at the resort, which will stretch 4.4 km over the Argun Gorge and connect the southern and northern slopes. On the opposite side, 14 km of ski slopes of varying difficulty are already ready and waiting for their moment. A large chain hotel from the Cosmos Hotel Group is preparing to open, and a restaurant is being built next to the lower station of the cable car.

The project for a snowcat garage on the northern slope of Veduchi has passed the Main State Expert Review.

It will be one of the epicenters of the ski infrastructure, located at the very top of the main skiing area — the Daneduk ridge at an altitude of 2,327 meters. After reviewing the design and estimate documentation, the Russian State Expert Review Board issued a positive conclusion on the snowcat garage project.

The multi-story building for five vehicles (two inside and three under a canopy) will house not only equipment, but also rooms for staff to rest and eat, bathrooms, utility rooms, and even a mini-fuel station with a capacity of 90 cubic meters of fuel. The total building area will be almost 600 square meters. And all this will be located at the top of the northern slope of the resort, between the stations of two chairlifts with the working names VL2 and VL4. The first section to be lit will be Azau–Krugosor. Fifty-four masts will be installed along this 2.4 km section, on which the lights will be mounted. Some of the masts will be 16 meters high, classic, and three will be 20 meters high. They will be located in the run-out zone at Polyana Azau and will illuminate the entire area.

The artificial snowmaking system on the slopes will also be upgraded before the start of the season: specialists are building a second pumping station and two transformer stations, and laying 3.3 km of pipes.

The lighting and snowmaking systems will be ready at the resort by early November, and Elbrus will be ready to welcome all ski lovers for the 56th time!

Over 3,700 volunteers, including more than 500 children, took part in the annual Clean Mountain environmental tourism festival at the Elbrus resort. This year, 14 tons of trash were collected on the slopes of Elbrus.

This was the eighth time the high-altitude clean-up day had been held. The eco-festival was organized by the Caucasus Development Institute with the support of the Government of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.

Accompanied by experienced instructors and resort rescue workers, the volunteers cleaned up six areas.

The Clean Mountain festival brings together volunteers who care about ecology, nature conservation, conscious lifestyles, and waste-free consumption, and helps to shape a culture of recreation and responsible attitudes towards the environment. From a one-off initiative, the festival has grown into a major celebration involving several generations of families.

On September 20, the Sports Family Festival took place in Veduchi.

Participants ran a 21 km race along a picturesque route with an elevation gain of 1,100 meters. There were no technically difficult sections. It was a great opportunity to run along an eco-trail with a view of the Khacharoyakh River gorge, descend into the valley, and explore the ancient mountain village of Veduchi.

There was also a 3 km fun run, family relays, master classes and quests, children's and teenage races, cornhole, frisbee and archery games, an open-air concert and an awards ceremony for participants.

Summer tourist traffic to Veduchi grew by 10% thanks to organized eco-trail tours.

Every month, Kavkaz.RF conducted group hikes along the resort's most scenic eco-trails. In addition to the hike, guests of Veduchi were offered a free transfer from Grozny and a professional photo session upon request.

"It all started a year ago with a hike organized by Aishat Ramzanovna Kadyrova, Deputy Chair of the Government of the Chechen Republic. At that time, more than two hundred people joined the 5 km trek. We saw a big surge of interest on social media and an increase in requests for this type of organized leisure activity. This summer, we introduced trekking weekends into the system," says Rustam Tapaev, deputy general director of Kavkaz.RF.

The eco-trail network, which is already extensive—nine routes with a total length of 36 km—is actively developing further. By the end of the year, specialists plan to lay another 30 km of trails, including connecting the Veduchi resort with Lake Kezenoy-Am via a dirt road.

“The route, almost 100 km long, revealed itself in all its glory when we started holding mountain races. It was this track, ”Kezhenoy-Am – Veduchi," that became the most scenic. Together with the Ministry of Tourism of the Chechen Republic, we came up with the idea of creating a route that can be traveled by SUV, bicycle, or on foot," says Rustam Tapaev.
