Tomorrow Olaf's Tower in Vyborg will open its doors to visitors after five years of restoration.
On the eve of the Day of Russia, the acceptance of works on the preservation of the cultural heritage of federal significance “Complex of fortress buildings and structures on the island”, and more precisely its high-rise dominant - “Olaf's Tower” - took place.
In recent years, the tower has been undergoing works on its interior decoration and the construction of a view elevator. The result is pleasing - the whitewashes of the Soviet period have disappeared and instead of them there is historical brickwork, the narrow spiral staircase along the wall has become wider and more gentle, loopholes and vaults have been opened, illumination on the walls and along the stairs has been arranged. The most important moment is the view elevator, the ascent of which from the first to the sixth tier takes 40 seconds. However, it should be noted that the elevator will be available only for visitors with limited mobility and by appointment.
