A memorial evening dedicated to the anniversary of Ingush people's poet Dzhamaldin Yandiev was held at the Lyazhgi Community Center.

Dzhamaldin Khamurzaevich Yandiev was born on October 15, 1916, in the village of Balta. He lost his mother at a young age and his father during the deportation. He began writing poetry while still in school and later headed the Writers' Union of the Chechen-Ingush ASSR. In 1944, he was deported to Central Asia, but even there he continued writing poetry—it was during those years that his most poignant lines about the war and his native land were written.

During his lifetime, the poet published 20 collections of poetry in Ingush and Russian. His works were translated into many languages of the USSR, and he himself translated Pushkin, Lermontov, and Mayakovsky into Ingush.

The most famous works include: "Believe!", "Mother," "Where I Was Born," "A Handful of Soil," "Tear," "Beat, Heart," "The Earth Burns and Cries," and "We Will Not Give Up Our Homeland." Many of these became folk songs—sung without notes because they came from the heart.

In Nazran, outdated circuit breakers will be replaced with modern Russian-made ones.

Ingushenergo specialists will replace two outdated oil circuit breakers at a Nazran substation with modern Russian-made vacuum circuit breakers.

The new equipment will be equipped with microprocessor-based protection and control units. This will allow for faster detection of network faults and automatic shutdown of the affected section, increasing power supply reliability.

The work will ensure more reliable power supply to 49,000 residents and 73 socially significant institutions in Nazran, as well as the rural settlements of Kantyshevo and Dolakovo.

More than 15.3 million rubles will be invested in the project.

The installed equipment has been in operation since 1966 and 2001 and has already reached the end of its service life. Unlike oil circuit breakers, the new vacuum circuit breakers do not require transformer oil, making them more fireproof and eliminating the risk of oil leaks.

Microprocessor systems will monitor network parameters in real time, perform diagnostics, and transmit information to the dispatcher. This will allow for remote control of equipment and prompt response to emergency situations.

The work is being carried out as part of the Ingushenergo branch's 2026 Power Facility Repair Program. Completion is scheduled for the end of November.

Large-scale archaeological research is actively underway in the mountainous region of Ingushetia. Two unique vases were discovered during this work in one of the tower settlements.

According to experts, these finds are comparable in scientific and historical significance to the exhibits in one of the world's leading museums, the State Hermitage Museum.

The pieces are made of clay. Photo 1 shows a round, terracotta-colored vase with a handle. Its surface is decorated with a wavy pattern, which lends it uniqueness and artistic value.

Photo 2 shows a white clay vase, which, according to archaeologists, is made in the Iznik style of ceramics, a branch of Ottoman decorative and applied art. The vase is decorated with intricate floral motifs, arabesques, and geometric patterns characteristic of this style.

These artifacts are further evidence that the Ingush possessed the skills to make clay pottery even in ancient times.

The Russian Mountaineering Championship is underway in the Dzheyrakh District.

The strongest climbers from 11 regions of the country are participating in the competition.

Athletes compete in teams of two. The competition is held in a marathon format: participants spend eight hours on the rock face over the course of two days. Physical fitness and technical skill are key, as is tactics—the team must manage their strength wisely, choose a pace, and consider the difficulty of the routes.

The first route on the first day is determined by lottery, while the second route is determined based on the previous day's results. During the route, climbers alternately lead and belay each other. To qualify, both participants must complete the route, reach the finish station, and stow their gear.

Separate rankings are maintained for men's and women's teams. All participants have at least a first-class mountaineering rank.

Hosting the Russian Championship is a major sporting event for Ingushetia. The rock routes of the Dzheyrakh Gorge are well-known among climbers and are used for training. Trails of varying difficulty are laid here, from easy to category 6 routes.

The final results and closing ceremony will take place on September 24 at 7:00 PM.

Yakub Gogiev, a member of the Dzurdzuki Historical and Geographical Society, and representatives of the Koaloi teip conducted an expedition to the summit of Mount Koaloi-Loam, located near the Koale tower complex (not to be confused with the Keli settlement and Mount Kuloi-Loam, located on the opposite side of the Assinovsky Gorge).

The expedition members discovered the remains of several stone structures at the summit.

The first structure is oriented strictly along the east-west axis and measures 4.20 x 5.80 meters. The height of the surviving masonry on the southern side reaches 1.20 meters, reaching an altitude of 2,368 meters above sea level. A unique structural feature of the building is that its northern wall rests directly on a rock outcrop, using it as a natural foundation. The interior is completely filled with collapsed roofing and rubble from the walls. To the north of this site are the ruins of another structure, but the degree of its destruction precluded instrumental measurements. On the southwestern elevation, a pillar-like sanctuary has been identified, surviving to a height of up to two meters. It is noticeably damaged by time, but overall in good condition.

Taken together, the discovered complex convincingly demonstrates the long-term cultic use of this area, likely lasting for several centuries. A shift in religious paradigm deprived these structures of their former significance, and they were abandoned. Final conclusions and a reconstruction of ritual practice will be possible after archaeological excavations, which we hope will reveal the secrets of the past of this unique highland sanctuary.

The Koale tower settlement is located on a spur of Mount Tsorei Loam, 800 meters east of Gerite and 1 km northwest of Barakh.

As a reminder, at the end of last year, in the western part of the complex, staff from the Dzheyrakh-Assinsky Museum-Reserve discovered a previously unaccounted-for structure, presumably a temple-sanctuary.

The complex also contains six surviving residential towers and a natural spring.

In Nazran, approximately 10 km of roads will be renovated in its anniversary year.

In the year of its 245th anniversary, Nazran continues to renew its urban infrastructure.

This includes both major repairs of individual sections and the restoration of pavement on streets in need of renovation.

One of the projects is Yuzhnaya Street in the Nasyr-Kort Administrative District. Here, the roadway is being repaired and the surrounding area is being improved. Specifically, a parking area is being created near the Y. I. Arapiyev Ingush Polytechnic College.

The need for an integrated approach is especially noticeable in areas with high traffic congestion. Yuzhnaya Street is located in an area with residential neighborhoods and social facilities, so the road condition and traffic management directly impact residents' daily commute.

Repairs were also previously completed on Lesnaya, Temirkhanov, and Mutsolgov Streets, covering a total length of approximately 800 meters. The renovation affected sections that provide transport links between residential areas and urban infrastructure.

Routine repairs are also being carried out on other streets. Individual sections of the road network are being upgraded, including in response to resident requests. This approach allows for the most problematic areas to be addressed promptly, without having to wait for a major street-wide renovation.

Road renovations are occurring alongside other changes to the urban environment. In Nazran, outdoor lighting is being modernized, public spaces are being landscaped, and courtyards and areas around socially significant facilities are being improved.

For the city, which turns 245 this year, infrastructure development is becoming part of a larger effort to renew Nazran.

A working meeting between representatives of the Ingushetia Archaeological Center and scholars from the Institute for the Study of the Hungarian People (Budapest) was held in Nazran.

The key topic of discussion was the influence of the Scythian era on the material culture monuments and ancient artifacts of the North Caucasus. Deputy Director of the Archaeological Center, Umalat Gadiev, noted the presence of Scythian-type features in a number of burial grounds in the foothills and plateaus (Lugovoy, Nesterovsky, Karabulaksky, Barsukinsky, and others), as well as in the collections of the Ingush State Museum of Local History.

Hungarian archaeologist Veronica Horváth expressed interest in the data obtained and proposed joint research, including in natural sciences.

The parties agreed to systematize contacts, conduct regular monitoring, and exchange the latest source materials. The visit was a continuation of a partnership that began in 2016: at the initiative of Umalat Gadiev, the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Debrecen) conducted radiocarbon dating, which made it possible to establish the precise dating of a number of military towers in the mountainous part of Ingushetia.

An exhibition opened at the Dzheyrakh Community Center, the result of a week-long plein air project involving 30 artists—professional painters, architects, and amateurs.

The group has been traveling to picturesque places in Russia and around the world for 15 years. This time, the artists chose mountainous Ingushetia. For a week, they worked outdoors, painting towers, gorges, and landscapes of the Dzheyrakh region.

The group included members of creative unions of artists and architects of Russia, as well as amateurs: doctors, teachers, lawyers, and architects. Each artist has their own style: watercolor, graphic art, and pencil. But they all shared one thing: mountainous Ingushetia became a source of inspiration. They worked at different times of day and in different weather conditions, each time discovering new colors and images.

The final event was a concert in the assembly hall of the Dzheyrakh Community Center. Local artists performed a traditional dance for the guests, wearing a kurkhars headdress, and the Ingush song "Lorsa Lida." The artists themselves also took to the stage, creating a lively cultural exchange.

The Ingushetia Ministry of Culture and Tourism provided support to the group, arranging a meeting, accommodation, and assistance for the participants throughout the trip.

In Dzheyrakh, an area chosen for improvement by residents is being transformed.

Work on a public area along Akhrieva Lane is nearing completion. The contract stipulates that work will continue until the end of the year, but the improvements are expected to be completed ahead of schedule—by the end of September.

Currently, specialists are preparing the foundation for laying a new asphalt pavement. The project also includes the construction of a retaining wall, the installation of benches, and the improvement of a spring. The work is being carried out as part of the federal project "Creating a Comfortable Urban Environment" of the national project "Infrastructure for Life."

This is not the first site in the Dzheyrakh District to be transformed thanks to the votes of residents. Last year, a public area in the village of Furtoug, at the entrance to Dzheyrakh, was improved. It now features paving slabs, gazebos, greenery, modern lighting, and a fountain.

Residents of the republic continue to actively participate in determining improvement priorities. This year, more than 67,000 people participated in the vote. The competition resulted in the winning design projects and eight public spaces, which will be implemented in 2027.

In total, approximately 24 sites selected by residents will be improved in the republic in 2026.

During archaeological excavations at the Khamkhi tower complex, a large castle-type tower settlement in the center of the Targim Basin in the Dzheyrakh District of Ingushetia, human skeletal remains, a clay jug, a knife, and an ancient saber with a handle, a long blade, and a characteristic curve toward the butt were discovered.

The excavations were conducted in a medieval above-ground crypt. The skeletal remains were discovered under the second burial layer, in a special wooden enclosure. A knife and a clay jug with a handle were found nearby. Presumably, this was the burial of a person of considerable renown at the time (possibly a renowned warrior).

Of greatest interest to researchers are the human skeleton, over 2 meters tall, and the ancient saber, which, at first glance, appears to have preserved its shape and all its structural elements well.

Archaeological work is being carried out with the financial support of the Safmar charitable foundation.

On July 2, 2026, a regular meeting of the Public Council and representatives of other public organizations was held in Magas with the heads of the Committee for State Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites, Timirlan Kodzoev, and the Dzheyrakh-Assin Museum-Reserve, Akhmedkhan Sampiev.

The agenda included restoration, archaeology, and preservation options for the Tkhaba-Yerdy temple and other historical and cultural monuments of the republic.

Present at the meeting were Kureysh Tsoroyev, a deputy of the People's Assembly of the Republic of Ingushetia, public figure, and concurrently, Chairman of the Public Council; representatives of the Council of Teips; Doctor of Historical Sciences, ethnographer, and renowned academic and public figure, Zeynep Dzarakhova; researcher and archivist Bersnako Gazikov; Executive Director of the Dzurdzuki Cultural Heritage Site, Yakub Gogiev; and Magomed Kartoyev, a senior researcher in the Department of History of Ingushetia at the V.I. Chakha Akhrieva, Ruslan Bekov, a senior researcher at the E.I. Krupnov Archaeological Center, museum-reserve staff, restorers, public figures, activists, and everyone interested in the history of Ingushetia.

The participants decided to openly discuss all the pressing issues in order to develop a unified vision for how work should be conducted on these centuries-old sites, which are considered a national treasure of the republic.

In his speech, Timirlan Kodzoev emphasized that, given the historical and cultural significance of the Tkhaba-Yerdy temple not only for the region but also for the country as a whole, it will receive close attention from both government agencies and public organizations during the work. He also emphasized the need to establish a working group to oversee all restoration work underway in the Dzheyrakh district.

Temporary wooden structures have been installed on the monument to prevent its destruction, and the first stage of archaeological excavations has been successfully completed.

Magomed-Sali Aushev, representing the Council of Teips, added that the successful restoration of this monument will be recognition of the skill of those who worked on its revival.

Bersnako Gazikov noted that, in parallel with the restoration of the monuments, work must also be carried out to preserve historical data about them on paper. He emphasized the need to document these objects, which, in his view, is a key aspect of this work.

Magomed Kartoyev expressed his opinion that restoration should be prioritized on those monuments that have retained a large structural volume and pose a risk of collapse in the near future. In contrast, monuments with a smaller volume and no risk of collapse can be restored later.

In his presentation, Yakub Gogiev, based on scientific sources, presented a detailed justification for why the eighth-ninth centuries should be considered a more likely date for the construction of the Tkhaba-Yerdy temple than the thirteenth-fourteenth centuries. He also explained why, if artisans from other countries were involved in the construction of the church, preference should be given to Ingush specialists.

Concluding the meeting, the participants set the date for the next session and the range of issues to be discussed.

The event was held in a friendly atmosphere, allowing everyone to speak up and be heard.

The Dzheyrakh-Assin State Historical, Architectural, and Natural Museum-Reserve was established on June 2, 1988.

By decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the Dzheyrakh-Assin Museum-Reserve was included in the list of historical and cultural heritage sites of federal significance.

The Dzheyrakh-Assin Museum-Reserve is located in the Dzheyrakh District of Ingushetia, the republic's only mountainous region, and is the largest open-air museum in Russia. Its grounds contain over 4,000 ancient monuments.

The main goal of the museum-reserve is to protect, preserve, and promote the republic's historical and cultural monuments and architectural ensembles.

The republic's tower architecture is a unique cultural heritage, faithfully reflecting the reality of the people's lives.

Currently, Ingushetia boasts over a hundred architectural complexes, numerous crypts, shrines, and other structures, and over 4,000 cultural heritage sites, of which 349 are listed in the Unified State Register of Cultural Heritage Sites as sites of federal, regional, and municipal significance.

Mountainous Ingushetia is the center of the spiritual and material culture of the Ingush people.

Artifacts of material culture are of primary importance for the history of the Ingush people, as they compensate for the lack of written sources. Defensive and domestic structures, funerary and religious monuments, as well as various artifacts such as household items, weapons, and jewelry, provide invaluable material for reconstructing the historical life of the people.

Indeed, this region is renowned for its unique combination of natural and mountainous landscapes and its abundance of ancient and medieval monuments, which constitute the Ingush people's primary national treasure.

On April 21, 2026, a ceremony was held at the Tugan Malsagov Ingush State Museum of Local History to honor the handover by representatives of the Institute of Caucasus Archaeology of the fourth part of the artifacts discovered in 2018 during the reconstruction of the Kavkaz federal highway in the Gamurzievsky Administrative Okrug.

The archaeological excavations were stored at the Institute of Caucasus Archaeology for nearly six years, during which time a tremendous amount of work was carried out on their study, description, and cartography.

The event was attended by Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Ingushetia V.V. Slastenin, People's Assembly Deputy A.Kh. Tsoroev, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic Z.I. Lyanova, representatives of the Institute of Caucasus Archaeology, and the heads of the Committee for the State Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites T.U. Kodzoev. and the Dzheyrakh-Assinsky Museum-Reserve, A.A. Sampiev; Associate Professor of the History Department at Ingush State University, Professor E.D. Muzhekhoeva; Director of the Franco-Ingush Research Center in Paris, Professor Isa Bokov at Sorbonne University; researcher, archaeologist, and Deputy Director of the E. Krupnov Archaeological Center, Umalat Gadiev; researchers of Ingushetia's material culture, ethnographers, public figures from the Dzurdzuki Ingush Cultural Heritage Site, university professors, artists, local historians, students, and others interested in the history of the Ingush people.

In 2018, the "Kavkaz" federal highway was being widened in the Gamurzievo area. Soon, routine construction work led to a full-scale archaeological expedition. During this time, entire cities (or rather, what remains of them – fortified settlements) have been discovered underground, along with Scythian burial mounds containing ancient artifacts: clay vessels, bronze and gold jewelry, and even the mysterious remains of people with deformed skulls.

The Gamurzievskoye settlement is a historical settlement in the Nazran District of Ingushetia. The ruins of the ancient settlement occupy a vast area – approximately 10,000 square meters.

In total, over 4,000 ancient artifacts were discovered during the excavations, dating, according to experts, to the Koban culture and the Alanian era.

All speakers agreed that the discovered artifacts are of great scientific interest to the history and culture of the republic and that their study allows for a new understanding of the trade and cultural ties of the ancient tribes that inhabited the territory of Ingushetia, as well as a clarification of the timeframe of their existence.

Biyaslan Atabiev, Director of the Caucasus Archaeology Institute, notes that the significance of these finds extends far beyond the Caucasus: "The ceramic vessels and jewelry pieces among the transferred artifacts provide insight into trade routes, trade and economic ties, and the level of socioeconomic development of society..."

Yesterday, staff from the Caucasus Archaeology Institute delivered a collection of ornamented gold, silver, and bronze jewelry, which will be stored in a special bank vault under temperature control.

The transfer of the artifacts to the Ingush people was made possible thanks to the joint efforts of T. U. Kodzoev, Head of the Committee for the State Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites; A. A. Sampiyev, Head of the Dzheyrakh-Assinsky Museum-Reserve; and M. Z. Sagov, Head of the Local History Museum. and the director of the Institute of Caucasus Archaeology, Biyaslan Atabiyev, who, back in late 2023, reached a mutual agreement to return the finds to their historical homeland.

Monitoring the medieval religious monument, the Dyalite temple-sanctuary.

0.2 km north of the village of Kart, on the crest of a high hill, stands the heavily damaged, large Dyalite temple-sanctuary, dating from the late Middle Ages.

The sanctuary is rectangular in base, with a gabled, stepped roof. In the past, the temple-sanctuary was highly revered by the Ingush, who even gathered there in the late 19th century to resolve common issues.

Monitoring the Doshkhakly Rock Temple.

Akhmedkhan Sampiev, acting director of the museum-reserve, recently conducted an inspection tour of the Doshkhakly temple-sanctuary, located in the western part of the Doshkhaklye tower settlement.

The site was discovered, introduced into scientific circulation, and subjected to archaeological excavations by M.B. Muzhukhoev in 1979-1980 . It dates back to the 14th-15th centuries.

The sanctuary is a highly original structure with narrow entrances; it is built into the cliff face and has three chambers. The temple once had a large annex with a separate entrance. Only the foundation of this annex remains today.

Yakub Gogiyev, executive director of the Dzurdzuki Historical and Cultural Center, rightly notes the similarity of the building to the rock formations of Table Mountain.

The bones and horns of sacrificial and wild animals are found inside the monument. The walls are wide, with small hiding places and niches.

The structure is dilapidated; the roof is missing.

On the origin of the name “Khamkhi.”

From the scientific publication by N. D. Kodzoev, “The Toponym ‘Khamkhi’ and the Sacred Tree.”

Legends about the founding of Khamkhi explain its name as the proper name of the founder of the settlement itself, but this is not true. According to Ingush traditions, when forming toponyms for settlements, a component indicating the type of settlement is added to the name, for example, it can be the words “pkhya” (Golashpkhye), ‘khala’ (Egi-Khala), “koa” (Zovra-Koa) or “yurt” (Toi-Yurt), etc. If such a component is not added to the name, i.e., the name of the settlement consists of one word (Targim, Khamkhi, Kart, etc.), then such a name does not come from a person's proper name. In this case, the name has a different meaning. Usually, stories about the founders of a particular settlement or community arise much later than its foundation in an attempt to explain its name.

V.B. Vinogradov and K.Z. Chokaev noted that “the term ‘Khamkhi’ cannot be clearly etymologized, especially in its first part. The second part of the word is more transparent in etymological terms—hi—‘water, river’.”

A.S. Suleimanov, a researcher of the toponymy of Chechnya and Ingushetia, cites the folk etymology of Khamkh: “to appreciate, to honor, to respect, etc.” This etymology is derived from the Ingush word “kham.” It is possible that the name of the settlement of Khamkhi is associated with the concept of a “sacred tree”: from the Ingush word “kham” — “valuable, revered, sacred” and ‘hi’ — “trunk, tree.” Indeed, the cult of the “sacred tree” has been present in the myths of most peoples of the world since ancient times.

The word “hi” (‘tree’) has a counterpart in the Georgian language - “he”. In his linguistic works, the scientist N.Ya. Marr, known for his research in linguistics, oriental studies, Caucasian studies, history, ethnography, and archaeology, hypothesized that the Georgian word “khati” and the Armenian “khach,” which have a common root, come from the Georgian names for trees ‘he’ and “dzel.” Furthermore, based on historical evidence of the ancient veneration of trees in ancient Georgia and ancient Armenia, Nikolai Yakovlevich puts forward the proposition that the terms “he” and “dzel”, as well as the corresponding Megrelian form of the name of the tree dja (za), originally meant a cult tree, specifically an oak or a linden tree.

The mountain Georgians called the tree of abundance “hemhvani,” which sounds similar to the Ingush word “khamkhi.” At the Thaba-Yarda temple, located near Khamkhi, there was a fragment of a baked clay slab depicting a tree with two chamois on either side. This fragment of a tile (a type of brick) was found in the Tkhaba-Erda temple in 1901. In the 1920s, this fragment was kept in the Ingush Regional Museum in Vladikavkaz. Its further fate is unknown.

The image of the “sacred tree” was also widespread in the ancient civilizations of the Near East and the Caucasus.

Ethnographer and Georgian scholar V.V. Bardavelidze reports on a Svan drawing depicting a pine tree, “to whose branches two goat figures standing on either side are reaching,” which, in her opinion, represents “very close parallels to the motif of the ‘world tree’ or ‘tree of life’ widely spread in ancient Eastern art.”

Images of goats on both sides of the “sacred tree” — the “tree of life and abundance” — have been known since the time of Sumer. A seal belonging to an official from the temple of Uruk (Sumer, 4th–3rd millennium BC) depicts a flowering bush symbolizing the “sacred tree” with the goddess Inanna and two goats on either side of the “tree.”

Thus, it is quite possible that the name of the tower settlement of Khamkhi refers to the cult of the “sacred tree.”

Khamkhi is one of the largest castle-type tower settlements in Mountainous Ingushetia, located in the center of the Targim Basin on the left bank of the Assa River. Currently, Khamkhi is administratively part of the Dzejrakhsky District of the Republic of Ingushetia.

The work of the federal government on new national projects has been completed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who initiated national projects, expanded their list by his May decree, adding several new directions. We plan to take part in more than 80 regional projects of 19 national projects. At this stage, applications from ministries are being formed, some of them have already completed the work on filling 2025-2026 .

For Ingushetia, national projects are the main development tool. Thanks to them, we solved a lot of important issues for us. The main ones are the construction of infrastructure in the spheres of health and education, with which the situation was difficult. With a steadily growing population, there were not enough medical institutions, schools, kindergartens. Within the framework of the national projects “Healthcare”, “Education”, “Demography”, “Ecology”, “Safe quality roads” and others, about 300 social facilities were built in Ingushetia. At this scale and at this pace, infrastructure has not been built in the region before. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for such assistance and support to President Vladimir Putin and the Federal Government. Work on national projects will continue.

In addition, there are plans to implement a number of activities aimed at the development of territories.

It is a programme to establish and develop strongholds. It provides for a number of measures for the reconstruction of engineering infrastructure – the formation of an environment and conditions for rest and development of different categories of people: pensioners, children, youth, said the head of the Republic of Ingushetia Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov.

"On the weekend, the International Festival of Folk Art and Crafts "Edge of Masters" will begin its work on the main square in Magas. This event is also organized as part of the 100th anniversary of Ingush statehood.

Masters from different regions of the country are invited to the festival, who will present their unique products and crafts: from traditional jewelry to household items and art.

I believe that the festival "Edge of Masters" will make an important contribution to the preservation and promotion of folk art and crafts. Such events contribute to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the peoples of our country and its transmission from generation to generation.

Celebrating the 100th anniversary of Ingush statehood, we should pay much attention to our cultural component, which has been formed throughout the history of the Ingush people. Our common goal is to preserve all this wealth of traditional culture, as our ancestors and their ancestors preserved. Therefore, it is very important to inspire the younger generation to study folk crafts, so that they can then pass this knowledge on to their children, said Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov, Head of the Republic of Ingushetia.
