Ministry of Economic Development: Private investors have poured nearly 7 billion rubles into the development of the Mamison resort.

During a working visit to the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania, Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Sergey Nazarov inspected the transport, utility, and tourism infrastructure of the all-season Mamison resort.

The future development of the resort, the implementation of investment projects, and preparations for the winter season were among the key topics discussed at a meeting chaired by Nazarov. Participants included the Head of North Ossetia, Sergey Menyailo; the Chairman of the Republic’s Government, Boris Dzhanaev; the General Director of Kavkaz.RF, Andrey Yumshanov; as well as representatives from federal and regional authorities and various investors.

Private investors have already contributed 6.89 billion rubles toward the resort’s development. In total, 17 residents of the special economic zone plan to invest 26.9 billion rubles. These funds are earmarked for the construction of 17 hotels, 193 modular accommodation units, and 25 restaurants and cafés. Once these projects are completed, the resort will be able to offer tourists over 6,100 beds, with plans to create 1,346 jobs.

To date, 176 jobs have already been created at Mamison. Several hotels, cafés, restaurants, sports equipment rental shops, and other tourism-related services are already operational. Ahead of the winter season, investors are continuing construction work and preparing new accommodation facilities. By the end of 2026, the opening of additional dining establishments and staff housing is planned.

"Our task today is to ensure the synchronized development of all the resort's infrastructure. The state has established the foundational conditions for its operation." "It is now crucial that hotels, restaurants, and other tourism facilities are developed in line with investors' commitments, and that utility infrastructure is prepared to handle the increasing load. Particular attention must be paid to water supply, adherence to construction timelines, and preparations for the winter season. We will address these matters systematically, in collaboration with the republic’s leadership, Kavkaz.RF, and the residents of the special economic zone," noted Sergey Nazarov.

The resort currently features over 20 km of ski slopes and two cable car lines. In the first nine months of 2026, the Mamison resort welcomed nearly 60,000 tourists.

As part of the winter preparations, special focus is being placed on the artificial snowmaking system. This year, Kavkaz.RF specialists have fine-tuned the equipment and replaced specific components and units. Additionally, work has been carried out on various sections of the ski slopes, utility networks, and tourist service facilities.

"The artificial snowmaking system, which became operational in late 2025, covers an area of over 276,000 square meters. This reduces the resort's dependence on natural weather conditions, allowing snow production to begin as soon as temperatures consistently drop below freezing. We have also incorporated guest feedback from the previous season: the operations team has created convenient transitions between slopes, ensuring that beginner snowboarders do not lose momentum on certain parts of the terrain. For families with children, we are constructing a tubing hill with two separate runs. We anticipate that by the start of the winter season, the resort will offer nearly 700 beds; two residents are set to open a 200-seat restaurant and a 3-star hotel with a capacity of 160 guests," explained Andrey Yumshanov, CEO of Kavkaz.RF. The resort and its residents are filling the winter events calendar with a mix of entertainment and cultural activities. For instance, the resort’s exhibition space is set to feature a new installation that plays on the "windy" character of Mamison, alongside the continuation of the "Slow Life Workshops" creative project.

Another topic discussed at the meeting was the expansion of the special economic zone. In June 2026, additional land plots totaling 233.56 hectares were incorporated into its boundaries. A further expansion—covering an additional 184.44 hectares—is currently being planned, a process that will require addressing various land-use and urban planning issues.

The development of Mamison is progressing under a joint roadmap established by the Government of North Ossetia and Kavkaz.RF, which encompasses the construction of tourism facilities and engineering infrastructure, as well as the implementation of projects by investors.

"Mamison" cable cars to reopen following scheduled maintenance.

At the Kavkaz.RF mountain resort in North Ossetia, scheduled maintenance work on the cable cars ahead of the winter season is nearing completion. The lifts will reopen to guests on Saturday, October 17.

"In preparation for the ski season, the resort’s operations team has carried out a full cycle of essential maintenance on the cable cars. The work has been underway since September 28. All procedures have been completed on schedule and in full." "As a final step, specialists successfully tested the lifts at maximum speed, and the equipment has now been officially cleared for operation," said Khasan Timizhev, Executive Director of Kavkaz.RF.

Before the start of the ski season, the resort’s cable cars—both the gondola and the chairlift—will be open for sightseeing. They transport visitors to an altitude of approximately 3,000 meters, offering panoramic views and access to the resort’s network of eco-trails. This autumn, Mamison will host several free events, including "Mountain Holidays" for children and their parents, "Trekking Weekends" featuring guided walks along the eco-trails with professional guides and photographers, "Slow Living Workshops" focused on creative immersion, and a masterclass on making Ossetian pies.

Mamison can be reached via a scheduled shuttle service from Vladikavkaz: departures are at 9:00 AM from the Ossetian Theatre, with return trips departing from the resort’s parking lot at 4:30 PM.

Mamison has summarized the first results of the warm season.

Hiking season on the eco-trails at the mountain resort in North Ossetia continues despite the transition to winter preparation mode. Annual maintenance work began on Mamison's cable cars on September 28 to prepare the equipment for the ski season.

"Our cable cars at Mamison performed well this summer—from June 1 to September 27, the resort welcomed nearly 25,000 guests, exceeding the tourist flow for the same period last year by 17%. Now it's time for the maintenance department to inspect and replace worn parts, and check everything that affects guest safety," said Khasan Timizhev, Executive Director of Kavkaz.RF. The most crowded events of the summer in Mamison were the Lisri art festival, which attracted nearly 4,000 guests to a light show featuring Ossetian musicians Ragon Bal, an exhibition of monumental sculpture by Vladimir Soskiev, and the opening of an art space with an exhibition compiled in the wake of Mamison's first art residency. The creative workshops of the "Slow Life Workshop" project also continued this summer.

September was especially busy at the resort: a family sports festival with runs on the mountain slopes kicked off, the first comedy festival featuring popular stand-up comedians from the North Caucasus and southern Russia, an educational intensive course "Potential of the Regions. The Economy of Attraction" in collaboration with Rosmolodezh.Entrepreneur, and a conceptual photography workshop with Rada Sadygova.

"In the last week alone, the resort in North Ossetia hosted a business intensive for 200 people, a book retreat for the "By Syllables" project, a tour with botanist Roald Kaupush, mediations at Vladimir Soskiev's sculpture exhibition and contemporary art gallery, and a musical improvisation by Nati Tedeeva. And so it goes, every day—something new, exciting, and mind-expanding. Since its opening, Mamison has hosted more than "100,000 people," said Rustam Tapaev, Deputy General Director of Kavkaz.RF.

During scheduled maintenance, which will last at least two weeks, the resort will continue to welcome guests for walks along the eco-trails located near the villages of Lisri, Kalak, and Zgil, at altitudes of 2,000 meters above sea level. The Astrobase hotels and cafes will also remain open, and master classes will be held on weekends as part of the "Slow Life Workshop" project.

Brainstorming at an altitude of 2,950 meters: How Mamison is searching for ideas to conquer the tourism market.

The educational intensive course "Regional Potential. Attractive Economy" has opened at the Mamison resort in North Ossetia. The event is being organized by Rosmolodezh.Predprinimatel in partnership with Kavkaz.RF. Fifty young entrepreneurs from across Russia are participating in the project.

"Today, 50 of the best project creators from across the country have gathered at Mamison. And the organizers face a challenging task: choosing the best of the best. We believe in your keen mind, creative vision, and innovative approach. This means many interesting projects await us. Go for it!" Alexey Elin, Advisor to the General Director of Kavkaz.RF, addressed the forum participants.

The program includes lectures on financial modeling, marketing, and pitching. Kavkaz.RF will introduce the entrepreneurs to the resort, its residents, and their projects, including site visits.

Currently, work at Mamison is being conducted in three areas. "Action" is for entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35 with existing projects they want to refine and take to the next level. "Start" is for participants without their own businesses but willing to offer solutions to the challenges they face. The "Career" category is for hundreds of students from North Ossetia who see their future in the tourism industry or want to find employment at the resort. A separate intensive program has been developed specifically for them; they will learn about the specialists currently in demand, and some will have the opportunity to interview with Mamison residents.

"The intensive program gives participants something difficult to obtain in everyday life—direct contact with a major client. Participants work on Kavkaz.RF projects, see the resorts from the inside, and interact with residents and experts. This allows them to propose solutions that will help develop the resorts of the North Caucasus and make them more attractive to tourists. "For entrepreneurs, this is an opportunity to enter a new market, gain partner support, and a chance to implement their idea," emphasized Dmitry Mamaev, First Deputy Head of Rosmolodezh.Predprinimatel and Rosmolodezh.Profi.

Over the course of five days, participants will develop solutions tailored to the specific needs of Kavkaz.RF. There are five case studies: creating an all-season activity program, a digital platform for tourists, developing event tourism, developing family vacation infrastructure, and a loyalty program for regular guests.

Only 20 teams will be allowed to participate in the final defense on September 25. A committee consisting of experts from Kavkaz.RF, Rosmolodezh, and the government of North Ossetia will select the best solutions. The winners will receive expert support and the opportunity to become residents of the special economic zone or strategic partners of the resort.

The intensive course is being implemented as part of the All-Russian Program for the Development of Youth Entrepreneurship, part of the "Personnel" national project.

Registration is now open for the first mountain stand-up festival at Mamison.

From September 18th to 20th, the all-season art resort in North Ossetia will become a major comedy stage – Mamison will host its first humor festival, featuring performances by popular comedians and stand-up comedians from the North Caucasus and southern Russia. The humor festival is organized by Kavkaz.RF with the support of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.

"We have a hypothesis that in the mountains, not only is it easier to breathe, but the jokes are also funnier. That's why everyone in the Caucasus is a bit of a stand-up comedian. We'll test this hypothesis this weekend at our art resort, because we believe humor is an important manifestation of a creative approach to life, which we promote at Mamison." "Therefore, the humor fest will not only bring together the stars of Caucasian stand-up but also give all resort guests the opportunity to try their hand at comedy," said Rustam Tapaev, Deputy General Director of Kavkaz.RF.

The headliners of the three-day program will be popular comedians Amir Gurbanov and Zaur Tuganov. The stand-up comedians are winners of the NTV show "Stars." Amir is also a finalist in the KVN Major League and a participant in the projects "The Big Show," "Comedy Battle," and "Eto Miniatures." Zaur is a semi-finalist in the show "Open Mic."

The comedians will perform on each of the three days of the festival. Other performers include Sasha Smirnov, Katya Mogilevskaya, Arkady Mirzoyan, Ruslan Bayatov, Farid Gasanov, Vlad Voziy, Angelina Ishchenko, Egor Paramonov, and Sveta Kulaksizova.

The main events of the three days will take place at the upper and lower stations of the resort, beginning at 3:00 PM. The main venues will be open-air stages at an altitude of 2,950 meters and in the resort's main square, as well as the Grand Galabu and Alfredo restaurants. During the first half of the day, guests will be entertained by comedians from Vladikavkaz and Rostov-on-Don, and there will also be an Open Mic, where everyone can try out their prepared and improvised routines and get advice from professionals. Headliners will perform on all three days at 5:00 PM. On September 19, the Ossetian KVN team "Yuriken"—the champions of the Major League and winners of the 2023 Moscow Mayor's Cup—will perform at 4:00 PM. On the final day of the festival, at 4:00 PM, a comedy quiz will be held, and at 8:00 PM, the Stavropol cover band HitKat will perform. In the evenings, DJ sets from 8:00 PM will add a relaxed atmosphere to the resort.

Admission to all festival activities is free. Registration is required. Transfers from Vladikavkaz are available to the resort. During the festival, shuttle buses depart from the Ossetian Theater between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, with return buses departing from the resort parking lot at 8:30 PM.

Mamison is the first ski resort built by the state after the imposition of European sanctions, opening in 2025. Even before its official opening, the resort committed to developing its art scene. Today, Mamison boasts a contemporary art gallery, the Lisri art festival, artist residencies, a Slow Life Workshop, and a lecture hall.

The Kavkaz.RF Development Institute builds and develops mountain resorts, supports the North Caucasus Federal District's tourism industry, helps regional businesses grow, and attracts investment to the North Caucasus. The company's most prominent projects include the Arkhyz, Elbrus, Mamison, and Veduchi resorts, which form the North Caucasus Tourism Cluster.

The second art festival at Mamison attracted nearly 4,000 guests.

The mountain resort in North Ossetia became a gathering point for contemporary art for the second time: from August 21st to 23rd, the Mamison Gorge was transformed into a unified cultural space for the Lisri festival. Over three days, nearly 4,000 Mamison guests experienced monumental sculpture, contemporary artists' experiments, and watched a light and music show on the walls of the village of Lisri.

An exhibition based on the resort's first art residency opened in Mamison's new exhibition space. Curators from newnow brought together works by Dani Pirogov, Ilya Tskhurbaev, Sasha Pavlovskaya, Georgy Orlov-Davydovsky, Lia Levin, and Margo Makarova. Each project is a personal statement about Mamison, born from an encounter with its history, culture, and nature. Georgy Orlov-Davydovsky's acousmatic track resonated particularly strongly: the artist transformed the melting of the Tsei Glacier into sound, inviting viewers to experience an auditory experience that exists on equal terms with the visual. Dani Pirogov's work prompted viewers to consider the continuity of movement in the landscape and the place of humans in this eternal transformation.

"The second art festival demonstrated that interest in Mamison and contemporary art is growing mutually. Therefore, we will continue to create an environment at the resort where our guests, nature, and art engage in equal conversation. We will continue to bring together vibrant and interesting people from Ossetia, the Caucasus, and the country." "The art festival's important mission is not only to inspire the region's creative energy but also to leave behind products that will attract visitors to Mamison at any time: Vladimir Soskiev's sculpture exhibition will run until the end of September, the gallery exhibition will run until the end of the year, and the exhibition space itself will become a permanent part of Mamison. The plant guide has established a new botanical direction for the resort, which we will develop," said Andrey Yumshanov, CEO of Kavkaz.RF.

The festival included a lively discussion titled "How Art and Local Identity Can Strengthen a Project." The discussion was moderated by Alexandra Fedorova, an expert in the cultural code of territories. Participants included communications expert Kermen Mandzhieva, Skolka brand founder Elena Baranova, artist Ilya Tskhurbaev, and curators Ulya Savich and Margo Makarova. In addition, the lecture hall hosted meetings with PhD candidate Daria Sukhovskaya, and nature lovers enjoyed tours with botanists and the legendary forester Roald Dominikovich Kaupush, as well as a presentation of a guide to Mamison plants, published especially for the festival. A local brand fair ran throughout the three days.

The evening program near the village of Lisri was a sell-out: a concert by Ossetian ethno-experimenters Ragon Bal seamlessly transitioned into a light show on the walls of ancient towers. Technology and tradition collided to remind us that contemporary art doesn't abolish roots, but reinterprets them.

"The concept of the light and music show 'Dream of the Mamison Gorge' is based on the idea of a living environment, where space is not a backdrop, but a full-fledged protagonist of the narrative." "Dynamic volumetric images are woven into the architectural landscape and, by transforming the space, transform it into an interactive theater where mountain motifs blend with modern technology, offering the viewer a unique emotional experience—a media dream under the starry sky," said show director Polina Khamraeva.

Admission to all events was free; the only requirement for activities at the upper station was a ski pass.

Mamison invites you to a trekking weekend.

On August 8th and 9th, the Ossetian resort of Mamison will host group hikes along eco-trails, accompanied by professional guides and photographers. Anyone can enjoy the trails: guests will have a choice of easy and medium difficulty routes, and participation is free. A cable car ticket will be required to access the starting point of some routes.

"Trekking weekends are a format that has proven successful at all resorts since last season. They allow everyone to 'test' our trails and trekking as a recreational activity, and they fulfill one of the company's goals: promoting active recreation in the region," says Rustam Tapayev, Deputy General Director of Kavkaz.RF.

Starting at 10:00 AM, guests will assemble in the resort's main square and be divided into groups, accompanied by live music from DJs. Guests can choose their preferred route, and guides will recommend the best option based on their level of fitness and equipment. Each participant will receive a healthy snack for the journey. The trails will depart at 10:30 AM. The routes will take up to four hours.

Groups will depart from the resort's upper station along the Peak 2727 and Mamihdon trails. The first trail will involve a 3.8-kilometer ridge climb with an elevation gain of 240 meters, taking approximately two hours. The second trail leads down to the tent camp; guests will hike five kilometers from an altitude of 2,950 meters to 2,390 meters and back, part of the way along the Mamihdon mountain river.

You can reach Mamihdon by regular transfer from Vladikavkaz. Transfers depart from the Ossetian Theater at 8:00 AM.

All routes are radial, ending at the meeting point. Clear navigation, rest areas, and observation platforms will accompany all equipped routes. Guests of the trekking weekend can participate in a photo shoot and receive complimentary photos taken by a professional photographer.

Kavkaz.RF, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, has already paved and developed over 250 kilometers of hiking trails in several republics of the North Caucasus. The trails are part of the large-scale National Caucasus Trail project, which will eventually connect the region with a network of eco-trails totaling almost 2,500 kilometers. For easy navigation along the trails, a mobile app, "National Caucasus Trail," has been created.

Kavkaz.RF has launched a "digital twin" of eco-trails.

A mobile app has been launched that provides navigation and safety for visitors on the mountain trails of the Elbrus, Mamison, and Veduchi resorts, as well as on all the equipped routes of the large-scale National Caucasus Trail project. The new digital app is available for download on the RuStore and App Store platforms.

Developed by the Kavkaz.RF development institute, the app contains all the information that can be useful both when planning hikes in the North Caucasus mountains and while actually traversing the trails. Using your phone, you can select a suitable route based on its difficulty and length, explore information about natural and historical monuments, explore views along the way, find key points along the trail, and mark difficult sections. The app also includes information about drinking water sources, alpine camps, and campsites near the routes, as well as find a hotel in a town near the trail. The "Safety" section contains all emergency contacts. During actual hikes, security alerts will be sent to your phone—the app works offline, even with a weak satellite signal.

"Digitalizing trails totaling over 2,500 kilometers is an ambitious project, unique in the world. We have now described and converted over 250 kilometers of trails into an online format. Our plan is to digitize all the routes along the main tourist artery of the North Caucasus, which will eventually connect the Black and Caspian Seas, allowing tourists to travel this route safely and comfortably, with all the necessary information on their smartphones," said Rustam Tapayev, Deputy General Director of Kavkaz.RF.

In total, the Kavkaz.RF development institute, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, has already laid out and developed over 250 kilometers of hiking trails in several republics of the North Caucasus. 112 kilometers of trails have been laid across the Elbrus region in Kabardino-Balkaria, 110 kilometers link the main resorts of the Chechen Republic—Veduchi and Kezenoy-Am—and 33 kilometers of scenic routes have been established near the new Mamison resort in North Ossetia. The digitalized routes include radial sections for light day trips with a return to the starting point, as well as treks that pass through resorts, national parks, and nature reserves.

All these trails are part of the large-scale National Caucasus Trail project, which will eventually connect the region with a network of eco-trails totaling almost 2,500 kilometers.

Since 2023, Kavkaz.RF has installed over 2,300 navigation signs and information boards along eco-routes. The trails are equipped with fences, metal cables, steles, benches, rest areas, photo zones, and observation platforms.

An exhibition of works by the outstanding Ossetian sculptor Vladimir Soskiev opens in Moscow today. Vladimir Borisovich's finest works will be on display at the Museum of Nonconformism on Myasnitskaya Street until January 31, 2027.

The exhibition is called "Ascent" and is dedicated to the artist's journey of overcoming, his relentless pursuit of the light, and, of course, his mountainous nature and his roots in Ossetian culture.

It's significant that this summer, Vladimir Soskiev's works will also be on display at the new Mamison resort. An open-air sculpture exhibition will open there as part of the second art festival from August 21-23.

Ossetian Pie Masterclass at Mamison.

On August 1st, a masterclass on Ossetian pie-making will be held at the Talisman panoramic café (upper station, 2950 m) at the Mamison resort.

Guests will learn how to bake authentic Ossetian pies with experienced cooks, learn proven cooking secrets, and have the opportunity to sample the finished dishes straight from the oven—hot and fragrant.

The program includes not only culinary practice but also a short vote for favorite flavor: participants can choose their favorite among traditional options—kartofdzhin, tsakharadzhyn—or suggest their own favorite recipe. Everyone is also welcome to share their family tips and favorite filling variations.

The master class will be engaging for both adults and children: young guests will be able to knead the dough themselves, assemble their first pie, and watch it transform into a golden-brown treat. For the kids, it will be a true culinary adventure.

Kavkaz.RF will hold its second art festival at Mamison

July 24, 2026.

For the second time, the mountain resort in North Ossetia will become a platform for experiments at the intersection of contemporary art, nature, and the region's cultural heritage. From August 21 to 23, guests of the Lisri art festival will enjoy an open-air sculpture exhibition, a light show, musical performances, tours, and public talks. The resort will also host a fair of local artists and brands.

The central event of the art festival will be the opening of an exhibition of monumental sculpture by Vladimir Soskiev, a member of the Russian Academy of Arts. Works by the renowned Ossetian sculptor will become part of the resort's mountain landscape, and can be seen both in Mamison's central square and at the top cable car station, at an altitude of 2,950 meters. Another signature event of the festival will be a show in the ancient village of Lisri.

"One of Mamison's missions as an art resort is to be a place where nature and art meet. And Vladimir Borisovich Soskiev's exhibition will help bring this idea to life. Another important component of the resort and festival's DNA is that our guests are always co-creators. We believe that everyone has creative potential, so we prepare engaging art activities. I won't reveal all the details, but I will say that guests will even be able to contribute to the spectacular finale of the three days—the light show," shared Andrey Yumshanov, General Director of Kavkaz.RF.

During the festival, a fair of local crafts and gastronomy will be held in the resort's main square, along with artist masterclasses and lectures by art industry speakers. Musical performances will be held at the resort's upper cable car stations.

The resort's first art festival, held a year earlier, was attended by 2,500 people. Participants and presenters of the festival included influencer Natalia Osmann, concept chef Ivan Dubkov, audiovisual artist Alexander Fuks, musicians Ragon Bal and Alexander Lestyukhin (Poima), artists Azamat Apaev and Madi Kurdan, PhD candidate and culture and heritage researcher Daria Sukhovskaya, photographer Rada Sadygova, the Snob publication, the New Russian Cultural Code channel, and other friends of the resort. More than twenty local brands presented their products at the fair.

The Lisri Art Festival is organized by the resort's management company, Kavkaz.RF, with the support of the Government of North Ossetia. Kavkaz.RF is the unified development institute for the North Caucasus. Together with the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, the company builds and develops mountain resorts, manages a tourism and recreational special economic zone, creates conditions for business development in the region, and fosters a favorable investment climate.
