Anton Mikhailovich Shitikov, Advisor to the International News Agency "Rossiya Segodnya," addressed future journalists, media professionals, and public relations specialists.

"A professional in international relations must be able to perceive any content, even shocking, as purely work material, maintaining emotional stability and the ability to identify manipulative techniques. If work constantly evokes strong emotional reactions and unsettles a person, it is recommended to change to a less stressful field," noted A.M. Shitikov.

The main topics of the discussion were:

what skills are needed today by students majoring in media;

Pyatigorsk State University held a student tourism video business card competition, "Caucasus in Frame," as part of Tourism Week. It was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the revival of the Caucasian Mountain Society.

The competition was initiated and organized by M.I. Chernienko, a lecturer in the department, who prepared the event, attracted partners, and assembled the expert jury. She also served as the host of the in-person round. E.V. Khubieva, a lecturer in the department, also participated in organizing and running the competition.

The participants' task was to create a short video business card for a tourist attraction in the Caucasian Mineral Waters region and present it in a way that would attract potential tourists. During the in-person round, the participants presented their projects, discussed their selection of sites and video ideas, and answered questions from the jury.

Following the results of the competition, the winners were determined, and the grand prize was a certificate for a visit to the indoor pool at the Pyatigorsk Narzan sanatorium. In conclusion, E.N. Goncharova, Head of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, presented the expert jury with letters of gratitude for their professional evaluation of the work and support of student initiatives.

"Caucasus in Frame" brought together tourism, modern media technologies, and student creativity, allowing the participants to reimagine the tourism potential of the Caucasian Mineral Waters.

Pyatigorsk State University held entrepreneurship training sessions for students. Two days of intensive work, new ideas, and vibrant emotions followed.

Participants explored the topic, simulated the creation of their own project, and learned about opportunities for further development. Everyone was able to choose their own path: some joined the team of an existing project, others designed or launched their own startup, and still others received the necessary resources to realize their idea.

Experts carefully selected the materials, evaluated the programs, and compiled cutting-edge cases and trends in tech entrepreneurship. Participants gained the knowledge that aspiring startuppers truly need.

These two days included the training program "Technograd: Startup Creation"—a life-simulating game that allowed everyone to discover their potential and abilities.

The training sessions are part of the University Technological Entrepreneurship Platform, part of the federal project "Technologies" and part of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy."

The PSU Volunteer Center and the PSU LAMPA creative association supported a large-scale three-day jazz festival, which took place in a cozy open-air courtyard in the heart of Pyatigorsk.

The PSU Volunteer Center helped with the event, greeting and coordinating guests and festival participants.

PSU is opening a new season of entrepreneurship training.

This semester, PSU trainers will conduct a series of training sessions under the TechnoGrad program for students from leading Russian universities in the North Caucasus, Volga, Southern, Far Eastern, and Northwestern Federal Districts.

Participants will have the opportunity to gain practical entrepreneurial experience, assess their own competencies, and take the first steps toward creating a technology project.

As part of the TechnoGrad training program, participants will participate in a life-simulating game that will help them discover their potential and abilities. Students will experience the role of technology entrepreneurs and discover their passion for the field. Together with their team, they will develop a smart city model and package it into a finished project for presentation.

The training sessions are part of the University Technological Entrepreneurship Platform, part of the federal project "Technologies" of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy."

PSU Open Day will be held on September 26th.

PSU will host an Open Day for high school students in grades 8–11 and their parents.

During the event, participants will have the opportunity to:

PSU at the International Youth Festival.

From September 11th to 17th, Yekaterinburg hosted one of the country's largest youth events, the 2026 International Youth Festival.

Sofya Nikolaevna Pavlenko, a lecturer in the Department of Psychology of Personality and Professional Activity at PSU, was among the participants of this large-scale event. The festival brought together 10,000 participants from 191 countries, with over 113,000 applications submitted.

Over 150 world-class speakers addressed the participants during the festival. The event concluded with a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov, which Pavlenko also attended.

As part of Tourism Week, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the revival of the Caucasian Mountain Society, the Institute of Foreign Languages ​​and International Tourism of Pyatigorsk State University is holding a tourism video business card competition, "The Caucasus in Frame."

Students from all PSU institutes are invited to participate; they can participate individually or as part of a team.

The agenda of the extended meeting of the PSU Academic Council (which was attended by heads and staff of all university departments and student organizations) included the following:

In his speech, Alexander Pavlovich Gorbunov outlined and described the university's main priority and key objectives for the 2026/2027 academic year in the context of the updated Development Program to 2036 and reported on the successful results of the admissions campaign.

PSU has selected a candidate for the "Alpha-Future" grant.

A meeting of the selection committee chaired by Professor Elvira Kondrakova, Advisor to the Rector for Educational Work and Youth Policy, was held at Pyatigorsk State University. The committee selected the university's candidate for a grant under the "Alpha-Future Grants for Faculty" program.

The goal of the competitive selection is to identify and support young PSU faculty members who demonstrate significant achievements in teaching, contribute to improving the quality of education, including through the introduction and implementation of a new educational model, and enhance the university's academic competitiveness.

Following the competitive selection process, Alina Levit, Associate Professor of the Department of Oriental Languages ​​and Cultures and Junior Research Fellow at the PSU Research and Educational Center for Applied Linguistics, Terminology, and Lingvocognitive Technologies, was named the winner. She has been recommended for a grant of 250,000 rubles.

The Institute of Foreign Languages ​​and International Tourism (IFLMT) of PSU invites submissions to the scientific journal "Language and Culture in the Era of Integration of Scientific Knowledge and Professionalization of Education."

A historic event in the development of Islamic theology in Russia has received official confirmation.

On December 23, 2025, a historic event occurred in the Russian scientific and educational space – for the first time in the history of Russian science, a dissertation in the academic specialty 5.11.2 "Historical Theology (Research Focus: Islam)" was successfully defended under the state academic certification system.

A dissertation entitled "The Islamic Concept of Religious Tolerance as Interpreted by Tatar Theologians of the Volga and Ural Regions in the 18th – Early 20th Centuries" was submitted for consideration by the dissertation council. The author of the study was Ramis Albertovich Fatkhullin. Stanislav Konstantinovich Osipov, PhD, Associate Professor at Pyatigorsk State University, served as the research supervisor.

The dissertation was completed with the scientific and organizational support of the Department for the Coordination of Research and Innovative Project Activities in Specialist, Master's, and Postgraduate Studies at Pyatigorsk State University.

Following a meeting on December 23, 2025, the dissertation council unanimously decided to award Ramis Albertovich Fatkhullin the degree of Candidate of Theology.

In August 2026, this decision received final official confirmation, based on the conclusion of the Higher Attestation Commission (HAC), by order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation: Ramis Albertovich Fatkhullin was awarded a Candidate of Theology certificate.

Pyatigorsk State University is co-organizing the International Scientific Conference "Harmony of Meanings: Linguistics and Communication as Tools of Multicultural Polylogue," which will be held on November 19–20, 2026, at Yerevan State University in a hybrid format (in-person and online).

The conference, timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the Faculty of European Languages ​​and Communication at YSU, will bring together researchers, faculty, graduate and master's students, and undergraduates from around the world.

The conference will focus on current issues in theoretical and applied linguistics, intercultural communication, translation studies, digital technologies and artificial intelligence in language education, literary studies, and other areas of the humanities.

PSU students participated in the "Mountain Friendship" 2026 tourist rally.

Pyatigorsk State University students returned from the Digorskoye Gorge, where they participated in the large-scale tourist rally "Mountain Friendship," organized by ARMAT with the support of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. The "Student Tourism" program partnered with the event.

The participants completed a series of practical workshops on setting up a tent camp, orienteering, first aid, and using camping equipment. They also learned about modern approaches to creating and developing student tourist clubs.

At the end of the rally, the teams presented their final projects, demonstrating their acquired knowledge and skills. Hikes along the scenic routes of North Ossetia, allowing the participants to gain a closer understanding of the region's natural beauty, were an integral part of the program.

"Mountain Friendship" became a platform for PSU students to gain new knowledge, gain vivid impressions, network professionally, and truly collaborate.

Aleksandr Pavlovich Gorbunov, Rector of Pyatigorsk State University and Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Universities of the North Caucasus Federal District, participated in and spoke at a meeting of the Council of Rectors of Universities of the North Caucasus Federal District, which was held as part of the Strategic Session organized by the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation.

The discussion focused on the best practices of the district's universities in preserving historical memory, implementing projects to expose the crimes of genocide against the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War, and perpetuating the memory of its victims.

A PSU master's student moderated the International Youth Forum.

Daria Khazhikarova, a second-year master's student at PSU's Institute of Translation, Russian Studies, and Multilingualism, moderated the discussion club "In the Orbit of Youth Policy: Student Clubs, Volunteering, and Social Projects" as part of the International Youth Forum of Slavic Universities, held in Stavropol.

The forum brought together representatives from universities in Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. During the discussion, Daria presented best practices of the Student Council under the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, of which she is a member, and spoke about the development of student self-government, volunteerism, and social project management at Pyatigorsk State University.

The participation of PSU representatives in such events promotes youth cooperation, the exchange of successful practices, and the strengthening of student leadership potential.

PSU Business School staff advanced their skills at MIPT.

Liya Mkheidze, Advisor to the Rector for Innovative and Technological Entrepreneurship and Transprofessional Competencies at PSU, and Yulia Ilyaeva and Anna Efremova, business school staff, participated in the advanced training program "Methodology of Entrepreneurship Teaching: Developing the Competencies of Business Trainers," organized by the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT).

During the training, the participants mastered modern approaches to developing entrepreneurial competencies, explored methods for supporting startup teams, designing educational programs, conducting training sessions, and exploring the potential of using artificial intelligence in educational activities. The program brought together leading experts in education, innovation, and business and provided a platform for the exchange of professional experience.

The knowledge and best practices gained will contribute to the further development of entrepreneurship education and the training of future technology leaders at Pyatigorsk State University.

Stavropol Krai and PSU are among the leaders of the All-Russian "Startup as a Diploma" award.

The results of the All-Russian annual "Startup as a Diploma Leaders" award, recognizing the best practices in developing youth entrepreneurship at Russian universities, have been announced.

The competition finals took place on June 26 in Moscow and brought together 14 of the strongest student teams, selected from more than 1,200 applications received from 189 universities in 65 regions of Russia.

The final qualifying project of Pyatigorsk State University students, completed in the "Startup as a Diploma" format, was included in the top 50 best projects in the country. It is the only project from the North Caucasus Federal District to be among the top 10.

Following the award, PSU was among the top 15 winners in the "University" category, confirming the high level of development of student technological entrepreneurship.

Liya Revazovna Mkheidze, Advisor to the Rector for Innovative Technological Entrepreneurship and Cross-Professional Competencies, was named one of the top five laureates in the country in the "Coordinator" category for her significant contribution to the development of the youth startup movement.

Another achievement was the inclusion of Stavropol Krai in the top 15 constituent entities of the Russian Federation in the "Region Leader in Startup as a Diploma" category, which is the result of the region's universities' systematic efforts to develop youth entrepreneurship.
